    Am i getting scammed?

Yeah Brett_jjj, Sounds about right re: earthing rad is a BAD idea. Brought a cheap chinese rad which $h!t itself in no time so i invested in an Aussie made custom job. Aussie supplier warns about stray current >50mV (0.05V) in coolant causing electrolysis which eats aluminium rads in no time...

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Maybe... tho after bleeding she was all good, until a few days ago... just got a replacement heater valve today cos it's spewing coolant like a mofo... airlocks in the SCV6 are a PITA!

    vt misfire issues

10 minutes should be enough to reset the computer. Pin 5&6 sounds right from memory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl492uEGtBE Pretty sure you need to remove the fuel tank to clean it. Had a similar problem with my ride a while back, same cylinder & plug was fuel fouled too. Turned...

#uck, cars do my head in, Just like the ladies... but I love gettin' inside & givin' it to 'em both when they're ride worthy! Anywho, Like I said above Betty is purring like a kitten since replacing the dodgy valve spring (& LIM & other stuff etc.) However, since then I've had the odd...

Supercharged VT Berlina air going through windscreen only

Does the Climate Control (Blower) fan change speeds at all? Before someone says fan speed amp (which may need replacing/repairing too) I was thinking the fan motor might be failing & affecting the flap that controls air direction. I repaired a fan speed amp about 12 months ago, it lasted 15...

    Bonnet gas strut supports

Thanks man. THe SuperCHeap nerd got 'em for me... According to the product list http://eziautoparts.com.au/pdf/Strongarm.pdf it is the correct part. Top end ball connector is easy enough but If the bottom end of the strut is not removable and the pin that secures it to the mounting plate (with...

    boost solenoid/bypass question

Dunno if you've done it right or not. I believe bypassing the actuator causes the beast to run @ full boot constantly!? Found a similar thing with my L67 when I replaced the intake manifold gasket. The plastic straw (hose) that connects to the soleniod had broken off the back of the actuator...

FULLY REBUILT L67 MOTOR - who wants?

Mate, can you tell me where the EGR is on the L67?

    Bonnet gas strut supports

Meah. I'll just try a piece of rubber between the rod & vice grips or something. Doesn't look like the pin on the mounting bracket that secures the rod end of the gas lifter is removable.

    Mode readout LCD Challenge

It's been a while since I played with my cluster but I'm pretty sure the LCD's surrounds were screwed to the PCB to maintain contact, no solder.

    Bonnet gas strut supports

What's the deal with the adaptor on the rod end that fits to the hex bolt hinge? I got a pair of new struts from SuperCheap Auto... after checking the forum & eBay, methinks not so SuperCheap,anywho... Easy enough to unscrew the ball joint adaptor on the rod end from the new ones, not so...

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Ya know what Som, I reckon you're on to something here... So what do we do about it? Ask the same unanswered questions, like "Where the #uck is the EGR valve/cooler on an L67 cos I can't find it!?" Meah, whatever. My mum brought me up well, so I believe it's just good manners to finish what...

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

$30 in parts, valve spring & seal from Scotty @ Smiths Holden & Black Betty is purring like a kitten again. WOOHOO!! :driving::drink: It was the exhaust valve spring which explains the popping/farting from exhaust when she was warm & rough idle too. Thanks to everyone for their advice...

    Inlet manifold gasket l67

Easy? Depends on your skill set / experience. If you're not a grease monkey (ie. a computer geek like me), then give some beer to a mate who is ;-) Torque wrench should come with with an adaptor to suit your sockets. Bolts are already on the engine LoL. Spec: -Manifold to Head: < 1998...

Brett, you're a bloody legend! What shits me though is the mechanic said compression test was A-OK (see original post). Should have known, once you loose faith in someone you really have to question everything they ever said! So called "professionals" Meah, more like arse hats. Need to buy a...

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Two Words: Valve Spring Funny thing is, when replacing the Intake Manifold gaskets i checked the springs on this bank & they seemed fine. Must have busted during road tests between changing/moving componenets around, but weak beforehand. Oh well, at least the mystery is solved.

Awesome-ness, Nes! Love it & ye olde Holdens. My mate who's been giving me a hand with my SC VX lately has a 56 Chev & EJ Holden wagon. Both look grouse & given plenty of love & $$$ ;-) Keep us posted bro.

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

New Oxy sensors, thought it made a difference but after 15 mins running... still no joy. They did look shagged tho, esp. the passenger side - white **** on it (coolant maybe). Swapped plugs around & leads 3 & 5 just incase they were dodgy even tho their new. Are "Hurricane" leads decent...

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Well, getting back to basics... #3 spark plug is fuel fouled & the injector seems to be making a different sound to the others on the same bank. ECU making it use more fuel? Why for? Given the exhaust popping noise when warm I'm leaning to the O2 sensor like Dave said. Does that sound fair?

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Job Done. One of the manifold gaskets was definately shagged & neither looked too good. Seems to run much better, still a bit rough but haven't driven far yet so maybe the computer hasn't re-learnt... Still getting popping from the exhaust when she's warmed up. Need to sort out this cut host &...

OK, new Gaskets fitted & manifold back where it should be... Supercharger will have to wait until tomorrow. Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

Well, at 191000 KM even if it's not shagged it may as well be done... might go a cooler thermostat at the same time. Inlet Manifold Gaskets - Mace Engineering Group For another $22, may as well do the Supercharger Gasket at the same time ya reckon? I REALLY appreciate your input. Thanks man!

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

G'day Brett, thanks for the reply Bro. I'm goin' nuts & the specific info helps me refrain from psychosis. ;-) Blown gasket not show up on a vac test? OK, so if I change the inlet manifold gasket I may as well do the thermostat & it's gasket then flush the cooling system at the same time yeah?

Rough Idle / Misfire at Low Revs

OK, this is really pi$$ing me off now! Tried a new coil pack which made no difference. Although I didn't reset the ECU each time I swapped each old coil pack over for the new one. Anyone confirm it needs to be done? Tried diagnosing by removing the IAC (increases idle rev) then removing each...

Thanks for the tip Brett, thought I read there was some kind of spark test that was more reliable than multimeter!? Looks like I'm off to Smiths Holden for a new coil pack... Already replaced the plugs & leads accentstencil, as above mate ;-) Anymore info re: How to tell IAC & TPS are...

    Traction control issues

G'day Swanny, I had weird issues with Trac control a few years ago with Black Betty (My Ride). Turned out the cogs the trac sensors bounce the signal off were caked with crap. VX Fog & Headlight Wiring

G'day All, I've been doing an LED dash conversion for my Supercharged VX Berlina & to my horror it seems the Butcher of Baghdad has modified the head/fog light setup. According to the good book of Greggles, the "Auto" wire (white, although the book says it should be White/Red) has been cut...

    VX air con issues

G'day, I reckon from what you're describing it may not be the Fan Speed Resistor/Amplifier. I've done the DIY FanSpeedAmp replacement twice, the first time I cooked the transistor cos I was a dumbarse & took it for a 10 min test without remounting it in the air duct. Then it only worked on...
