If it's actually black then yes definitely keep changing it regularly. I'd be using whatever half decent oil was on sale for the 2000km changes.

I bought 20 lites of Penrite vantage (full synthetic 5w-30) for $195.

I figured I’d be doing a few changes

Keep in mind that this procedure is obviously working if the oil is going black that quickly! Give the car a nice hard drive, let it cool down to the point you can safely do an oil change, then change it would be my recommendation

That should be ok but you can get better deals than that quite often. She'll 5w30 was about $30 for 5 liters recently. I wouldn't be deliberately putting it under load while the engine is full of shite. Maybe a 2 hour trip up the freeway and back to give it time to run with the oil in the proper temp range. It won't clean while it's cold. Some people swear by lifter free as an engine cleaner that cleans while you drive, instead of a 5 minute flush which can cause problems.

I drive my car with mechanical sympathy mostly these days as i am a lot older….

Ill just drive normally for another 2000kms, try and get a couple of longer trips in and then change again.
