Cheers for those mate,

Looking at the diagram, the low speed fans are switched through the BCM but the high speed is switched directly from the PCM.

If fuse F14 is going when the high speed fan is supposed to switch on it would suggest the issue is at the PCM.
Is fuse F29 blowing?
You are right in what you say, but for the High speed fan to turn on, the BCM sends a signal via serial data to the PCM and then the PCM signals to switch it on.
I'm sure that's what I read in the FSM for the V6 anyway.
You may be able to confirm this later if you want.

You got it right, except the PCM is the boss and the BCM the slave.

My understanding is that with the early PCM's there weren't enough spare pin-outs on the PCM for both the low and high speed thermofans so one was controlled through the BCM. It seems this has continued with the later models probably to keep a commonality between the various wiring looms I would imagine.

Here we go.....

This is for the GEN III.
I'm not sure if this operation is exactly the same for different models,
but I'm sure it would be.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help.
It turns out that there were two separate issues.
A short in the wiring behind the dash causing the fuse to blow.
A burnt out plug in the fan wiring harness causing the low speed fan not to work.

Glad to hear it's all sorted. Chasing electrical faults can be a long, drawn out process.
