How many times can you safely wipe and rewrite a memcal? Don't want to kill a hsv memcal.

well once you wipe it its no longer a hsv memcal....
It will always be an hsv memcal. It just won't have an hsv tune anymore. No big deal.

165rwkw is still a way off from where you should be
I had 166 with stock comp & cam. Later on got around 178 with better exhaust system. All with bolt ons and stock-ish tune, (if heads count as bolt on's)

You can burn them hundreds of times if you don't erase them to long.has he tuned a v8 in person with a similar cam you can't really guesswork cam tunes or do them from logs there's a certain level of needing to be in the car

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I put bigger injectors in it? It's running standards how would it go if I put a set of blue tops in it? Ari666 suggested getting a ALDL Cable and logging 1st 2nd and given a deserted straight road 3rd gear. Would that be enough to get the tune a bit closer?

you could buy a logging cable they come in handy anyway.ide buy the real deal off pcmhacking.net if you want the best support and nice product.do a few driving logs just cruising first to see how far out the tune is before getting to hard on the gas

youre going to need to read basically the whole site before you start tuning. ive been reading up on LS1 tunes for over a year now and im only just starting to understand.

if you swap injectors itll richen up you mixtures. in a manner of speaking its a poverty way of sorting out your lean AFR, but itll kill idle quality, might not even idle at all. making one change to your engine usually has knock-on affects in other areas.

read this 6 times until it no longer sounds like a foreign language: pcmhacking.net - View topic - Getting Started Guide

to log properley, youll need a wideband O2. im not sure if these are any good. usually cheap means ****, but the guage is quite funky and has digital output for hookup to your datalogging device: AEM Digital Gauge 6 IN 1 Type Wideband AFR Uego Controller 30 4100 | eBay

im using a 2j2 which is really painless to use: Wide Band Lambda System With Bosch Wideband O2 Sensor | eBay

far out! LC-1 kit including a neat guage $330 bucks! not bad Innovate G4 Wideband AIR Fuel Gauge LC 1 KIT 3821 | eBay

its good to note, if your exhaust has a leak before the O2 sensor, itll always read as being lean until you stomp the pedal. so its crucial to get all the leaks sorted out before you start tuning anything. otherwise youll get a false reading and all your changes will just end up rich as hell.

now your fuel is metered using the VE table. might be called something different with the delco software, but its all pretty much the same thing.

what youre doing when youre logging is trying to make your engine hit each and every cell as many times as possible without activating any enrichments. thats why the process goes:

neutral:
400
800
1200
1600
2000
2400
2800
3200
3600

its best to have a buddy with the laptop so he can tell you when to hold/give more/less throttle etc.

each hit on a cell is recorded, once youve set up your wideband, youll need to setup and "AFR correction" table, which means the ecu reads the wideband, reads the command AFR (14.6 whatever its supposed to be. you record command AFR just in case you accidentally over-throttle and hit enrichment, command AFR will drop to whatever the enricment value will be, say 12, so the "correction" will automatically adjust and youre not throwing wild corrections in, stuffing up all your nice data) and records the difference in readings. its best to have this setup so it only shows results once youve hit that individual cell 5 times or so, to give you a good solid reading.

once you have readings on all the cells, you then just take the correction values recorded and multiply them to the VE table in your ecu. then repeat the process untill your corrections are all within spec.

now the process for doing it on the delco is different i believe because you dont have the option for live changes, i.e. you need to burn the changes later on when you get home. so its more time consuming, but i believe the idea is the same.

drive/log/hit all the cells/save data/correct VE tables/save changes/reinstall/repeat.
