Update, not much of one. Cash is still in savings mode so no $$$ for the poor ute.

Taillight stopped working, or worked intermittently so thought I would get into it this morning and see what's what. Was expecting it to be a painful job with the tub liner, surprisingly only like a 5 minute job to get the whole taillight out let alone just changing a bulb.

Took some pictures in case anyone wanted a run down of how to change the taillight in a VY/VZ ute with a tub liner:

1. Undo these two screws

2. Lift the liner in the middle of the tray to get the liner out from under the lip

3. Pull back the liner to expose the panel hiding the taillight wires

4. Undo the screws around the panel (both sides of mine are missing some screws seems someone might have changed bulbs before and lost the screws?)

5. Unscrew the bulb holder from the light to expose the bulb and replace

All up I undid 9 screws, there should be 10

I also found surface rust!!! Argh, so I gave that a bit of a rub to get rid of it with a cloth and some WD-40

Those tub liners are the worst. Much better to get the rhino lining type stuff. All the factory ones do is trap moisture.

Was honestly surpised by how much there was, just little easy to remove spots. But you could imagine after awhile it starting to take hold. Is a 10 year old ute but still. Possibly another thing to add to the damn list lol
