My fellow Australians
Well done you have once again failed Australia

Good to have you back in the arena mate.
I reckon there were quite a few losers last night, apart from Labor and the Greens. They were
1. Tony Abbott, obviously
2. Getup
3. Turnbull
4. His son
5. All the cretins who conspired using underhand and sometimes violent tactics to discourage or frighten Coalition supporters.
6. The militant unions who would have been sweating on a Labor win to start a fresh round of hard-line industrial action to extract unaffordable concessions, and finally...
7. Shorten. Big time. And now he too becomes Neville Nobody on the losing team. It would be nice if that arrogant grub Bowen would step down and take that arrogant Wong with him.

The Labor party lost the election in Queensland. The Liberal party coming out supporting the building of the Adani mine was the reason. Shorten was trying to have a quid each way and Bob Browns convoy was the nail in the coffin. Whether or not the construction of Adani provides these jobs remains to be seen. Some of these types of jobs are fly in fly out and will not hire local labour. Once the mine is up and running it is likely to be highly automated. In West Australia they are already have automated trucks and with this being a newer mine it is quite likely to have fewer jobs.
I think Shorten was an asset to the Liberals, he was just the wrong sort of person to be a leader. He did the right thing by standing down, next step wait a little while and resign from parliament. I hope they pick Tanya Plibersek as their new leader, I believe she will make a good leader.

Albo is from the left too but compared to the drug dealers mole - I'd choose him every day of the week. Really, I don't see a good option from any of them IMO.

Shorten couldn't even spell socialist let alone be one. I was on the receiving end of some of the sweetheart deals that were done by the AWU while he was their national secretary. They even had their own employment agency that saw to it that we received less than those on the main contract. If that's not being a friend of the employer then I don't know what is. He is very much to the right wing of the Labor party. It has always bewildered me as why to those of his ilk aren't in the Liberal party.

Yeah I have heard many stories of him selling out those he purported to represent in the union days.

That said - for a so called right winger, his platform was about as socialistic I have seen in Australian politics in a very long time.

Shorten never won the popularity of the public. He was seen as deceptive and untrustworthy. His role in the Rudd and Gillard killings showed him for what he was and even though no legal action ensued from the Royal Commission, his deals with the unions to the detriment of employees only reinforced his negative image. I think too that his allegiance to the union movement, particularly the CFMMEU, was a strong negative. People might have wanted a Labor government, they just didn't want him as PM.

As for Plybersek, I think she is far too left wing to help Labor mend it's bridges after this debacle. She has strongly supported the party's policies leading up to the election and would have to take a big rethink on most of them which might be a bridge too far. I don't think she'd be a good leader because she's just too far left.

My thoughts are that Labor will lose more credibility if they elect Albanese as leader.
Labor have been pushing the gender equality ( read female preference ) for a long time. Plibersek has been deputy for how long ? And they are now going to promote a man as leader over her ?
Can’t happen. The feminazi media would have a field day with that, and Labor will lose more votes to Greens/Animal Justice/Raving Looney Party in next election.

I am looking forward to another round of political party infighting, backstabbing, accusations of fault and responsibility, all in the name of party unity and solidarity.
