Memcal socket install

the memcals are differant, the vr has a `512 eprom and teh vn has a `138 eprom.

vn auto and manual are 128

vr manual is 256 but will work with a vn

vr auto is 512

hey just got a high perforence memcal just wondering were it goes cheers

Under the left hand plastic kick panel (near the passengers left foot) is the ECU (computer) the memcal goes under tin lid on that (just plugs in)

hey any1 know if the socket has a partcular part number, or is it just a 28 way machined hole 1/2" wide socket...

I had a run with a high 12 second LH Torana today, no need to tell the rest of the story because it was slightly illegal except for the fact that I lost but the old VP was far from embarresed I was hanging on pretty good and she only went past me at about jogging speed and ended about 4 car lengths in front (started one car behind) at a pretty decent speed so yeah my gtech times must be pretty spot on based on that

Got the socket 2day from jaycar. now, I solder that 2 the eprom so I can plug in and change the chip n thats it-yes?
Also, do I need this??

And whats the diff between the 27 and the 29
29's seem hard to get whereas the 27's r continually made. Does it matter?

i'm pretty sure it was the hard to get one, the 29, but i'm not 100% sure
