No you don't. Mine never spun both, once, leading me to believe my VN Lexcen had an open centre. I pulled it apart to spool it and was greeted with a nasty surprise.

Turn a tight corner. If your inside wheel chatters and skips and your turning circle is ****, you have a spool.
