It could be unplugged. I know I took my first VP to a mechanic once who forgot to plug the oxy back in after dropping the box out.

So check if it's plugged in.

If it is, then replace it. Can't hurt. You'll get better economy for it anyway :)

Pretty much :p It's not like it's an item that you can repair ^_^

I had mine out last night, was wondering if there's anything I could spray in there to clean it up at all, figured probably not so just put it in with the new headers haha

Yep good deal if it's in good condition with reasonable kms

Common enough problem, if it's between the metal part of the radiator and the plastic end tank, you'll probably need another radiator.

changed water/ radiator bottle now wont start

Hi have a 1990 vn started overheating, pulled over and turned out to be the plastic bit that sticks out from the bottom of the water resivour that the hose that feeds the radiator attaches to broke off inside the hose (steam and water everywhere).
Pulled over and cooled down for over 1 1/2 hrs and changed water bottle with new one, tried to start and started ok then ratted and stalled like it couldn't keep the idol, had replaced the crank angle sensor about 2 months ago as had problems starting going up a hill would drive then just stop going along, was fine when the sensor was changed.

About 5 or so months previous to this the thermostat went and car started to overheat was changed and car fine but noticed the water bottle baloon up then.
A little water was spilled when filling up, could this be the problem, as it wont idle or rev enough just kepps stalling?
Can anyone please suggest what may be the problem? thanks

Vp Ignition/Engine Managment problem

Hi,
I'm a new member trying to fix up my beloved VP.
Bit of history; Still running the original mechanicals after all these years & was until recently a gr8 car.
Had LPG fitted in late 07 professionally & it still went well, even when towing.
On a recent country trip while towing I had the typical Aussie accident, argument with a western grey kang.:(
Result: 1 guard, 1 door & 1 aerial binned. But the car still got me there, it was the return home where the problems started.
Leaving Melb running on LPG,there was an almighty BANG.
On quick inspection realised that that air-box had blown completely apart & the tubes for the intake were not in better condition. Quick patch up & back on the road. Only to find out that it would no longer run on LPG & while having to use Unleaded was like driving a truck. No economy or acceleration what so ever.
Finally got it home & the car wouldn't drive up a sloping road, without stumbling, coughing back & eventually dying.
But would idle & free rev. Put it in drive - stumble, cough, back fire & die. On both LPG & ULP
Reverse seems to work ok.
Cars not over heating.
So I replaced the following; ECU, Coil pack, Crank sensor, Map sensor, Plugs & Leads.
Still getting the same results.
Checked the ALDL with the paper clip & get code 12 No problems.:yeah:
Can anyone help me with some ideas on what could be the problem.
It starts & revs but stumbles in drive & dies when put under load like light acceleration away from a standstill.
I don't want to take it to a dealer as they charge too much for too little just to tell you what's wrong, then bankrupt you with the cost of parts & labour.
