Gday all.
Im hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction with a couple of issues I'm having with a vz Berlina 2006.
I didn't drive my car for a week and when I started it the car was running like crap, lumpy and shuttering. Not being very mechanically minded I initially thought it was misfiring
The check powertrain and engine light came up on the dash so I turned it off.
I borrowed a friend generic scanning tool and the codes that came up
Were engine misfire no.6 cylinder and no.6 injector circuit.
I'm aware of coil issues with these cars so I swapped no.5 with no.6 as they're easily accessible. The issue didn't shift to no.5 cylinder which I thought it may if it was the coil.
New plugs and a basic service didn't improve the situation.
So basically I start the car in the morning, runs like crap as mentioned above. After 5 minutes I turn it off, maybe one or two starts later it runs fine and more often then not proceeds to be fine driving around until the next morning.
I have been told it's a possibility that the ECU could be buggered which I was kind of hoping it's not the case.
Pretty much because I've got stuff all money and I need my car to get to work.
Can't tow a trailer with two feet and a heartbeat.
Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers John

that matches traditional ecu failure in these
not used for a while, and then troubles
you can try swapping number 6 injector with another
you could try disconnecting each injector one at a time
and see if they all cause an engine idle change

Thanks for the reply mate.
I did disconnect each injector wiring harness and the only one that didn't make any difference was no.6.
When it comes to taking out the actual injectors and such I think it's well beyond my little knowledge being a carpenter.
I've read in other threads about splicing no.5 to no.6 injector to resolve the issue but even that is beyond me.
The cars done 300000km and until now doesn't really owe me anything.
I suppose I could replace the ECU straight up instead of going back and forth to an auto elec and to a mechanic to resolve the issue.
Thanks again for your time

And the reason a driver fails is due to high resistance in the earth circuit. Heat builds up and then a fail again.

How do you eliminate the high resistance? Remove the injector, clean/replace or is it more likely an issue in the wiring harness leading back to the ECU.
Thanks for your reply

Find all the harness earth points. Clean the threads. Clean the mating surfaces. Scotchbrite and CO Contact Cleaner.

There’s a few around the engine bay.

It’s a start. It cost nothing much other than effort and loose change under the seat.

Thanks mate.
I will give it a go, just trying to exhaust all possibilities in the hope that I can rectify the issue without the need to line someone else's pockets unnecessarily.
Cheers
