I’m interested to know what type of on board equipment the VE SS Commodore high way patrol cars have to aid them in detecting and collecting evidence against offenders on the road. I have heard all sorts of rumours. I’m looking for facts about their equipment, radios, speed camera, dash camera etc whatever people know about them.

Speed radar
Some have automatic number plate recognition (rare)
Some have video recording inside the vehicle (officer safety)
All have some sort of radio (location dependent, e.g. in NSW they will have GRN and perhaps a conventional radio).
Computer - either rugged laptop or a PC in the boot with dash mount screen

thaught he ment recording the inside of the vehicle to protect the officers. If it records outside the vehicle is the video on all the time? and can it be viewed form inside the vehicle?

yeah it records to a local disc that can be replayed but not sure if they can do it instantly or wether the disc needs to be taken out and then replayed or what ever.

it's the same as the americans, they have the dash mounted one straight out the window.

some also have microphones on the police officers, to record what is said when they approach someone. also head cameras to record what happens. (nsw and qld mostly havent seen any in vic yet...)

K..... What did you do Santoro? Either you did it or you didn't.
If you plead innocent the police will give you a brief of the evidence they are going to use against you.
You get found guilty and go to jail for po'ing the magistrate.
Problem solved :p

On the other hand if you don't **** up, it doesn't matter what is in the cars as they will never be applicable to you.
