Hi guys
i did an oil change about 3500kms ago i checked it a few weeks ago and it was down to half way i thought it was a bit strange, but now its almost at low?! there is definitely no leaks at all and its not blowing any smoke under acceleration. What could it be? i have red that sometimes if the sump plug isnt torqued properly it can leak while driving? also i drive about 80kms a day in bad traffic stop starting alot could this cause that much oil burning? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Castrol edge titanium 10w-30. Absolutely no leaks at all I have checked a few time after driving and after it sat for a few days

Did you add oil after starting the car? The filter needs to fill back up after an oil change and will give a low reading as a result.

Hmm strange I would top it up again and see what happens. Check your coolant too if it's dis coloured then it's probably a head gasket or something maybe.

If no leaks then more then likely is burning off slightly and you just can't see it being in the drivers seat

Get a friend to drive behind you and floor it. Preferably with a video camera to record it

And using that method when stationary, take a recording and rev it and see if any blue smoke appears.

Black smoke = running rich with fuel. Normal when under WOT ( wide open throttle)

Blue smoke = oil burning off

White smoke = water/ coolant

Because if it is blue, then you might have to join the list of people having the same issue

Caused by rings needing replacing already. Usually when the owner hasnt bedded the engine in properly.

Some have had sump gaskets leaking and rocker cover gaskets failing and oil senders leaking but the major one is the piston rings failing. You dont want that.
