Sorry to dig up an old thread...

Just want to know if we can use dexos 2 spec oils in a VF2? I know dexos 1 is ok but not sure on dexos 2?

I read all about it once. Dexos 2 meets and exceeds all the requirements of Dexos 1. It’s a more detergent laden oil (plus many other things I’m sure) designed to handle predominantly Euro Diesel engine cleanliness requirements.
So yes, no problem using a Dexos 2 oil.

Penrite site says 5w30 Enviro is Dexos One Gen 2 o_O
While the 5w40 Enviro is Dexos Two.
Same same isn’t it? Different licences if you take a look.
Personally think both are tops, unbelievable value.

I have the dealer put Nulon full synthetic in mine. 5-30

I'm no expert so cant say its a good oil, as I cant analyse it at a microscopic level...

But, I can tell you that it runs quieter with the nulon compared to dealer oil.
Nulon looks cleaner after the same amount of kms compared to dealer oil.
Good enough in my books

Good your happy but you want dirty oil, means its cleaning your engine no build up etc.

Dexos ratings really arnt important as they are manufactured to meet emissions ie low zinc levels, zinc is good for bearings etc

Why would you use an oil (Dexos2), that is designed for dirty Euro diesel engines in your car, instead of using the oil (Dexos1), that is specifically designed for our (powerful) petrol engine cars. Why not go all out and run diesel fuel in your car as well !!!
