Am I right in saying we cannot legally turbo the VF?

I’ve often suspected that “ADR compliant” by mobs like this just mean it’d be possible to make the car comply ... just not necessarily with the kit/fitment as supplied. :)

Yeah, I think there'd be more chance of the second coming of Christ occurring than even a mildy cammed LS3 passing emissions testing. In NSW anyway. I don't think even the W407 would pass

I do know of a magnuson supercharged VF passing emissions in SA, though this was with standard cam, and i believe they had factory cats on it too

There's quite a few running around Melbourne as well.
The important thing is you need to use the factory cats.

Interesting how they manage to register these cars, if there is a possibility it is unroadworthy at point of sale.....Not to mention the ramifications related to insurances if it is necessary to claim it

with basically every exhaust fitted even just a cat back that cell triggers for rear 02 sensors and everyone gets it turned off ( and that is still with factory tune) only exhaust swap, now that cell needs to be left on to comply with emissions, ecu must pass all readyness tests at startup (all emission sensors on and working) then all must stay within limits when running, if u have ever seen a factory tune file fueling is a mess just to comply with emissions for each variable of the test, u "may" be able to tune around it but u wont have an optimal tune

Considering big houses like Harrop, WSM, Walkinshaw et al, are doing this, legally I'd be so far down the pecking order of names on the inquisitor's list.
They wouldn't bother actually chasing anyone down, IMHO the only real risk is nullification of insurance if Something Bad happens. And even then, would they bother to go looking for mods?

I'll get mine on a 5-gas analyser and a dyno on the weekend...we'll see how far 'out' a cammed, full system car is....

HP is a measurement of energy conversion speed. If you make more power you use more fuel. If you use more fuel you make more emissions.

That said the same amount of fuel through any well tuned motor will produce the same amount of emissions. It's all about how much it can swallow point in time.

The emission focused adrs are quite flexible within these parameters and take into account emissions reduction measures like alcohol fuels and water injection (even though we mostly use them for power ) but a lot comes down to manufacture date. Well worth a read.

I asked my insurer the question, will they cancel or not pay out if I fully disclosed the fact I have a cam fitted, brakes fitted and modded etc....they said ‘no’, if you disclose and they accept the modification and the mod has been completed by a professional, they have no reason to nullify the claim.
... except that I think you'll find in the T's & C's that the car must be legally registered to be covered.

I'll ask if the plate will placate them
