Hi Rob,I have owned a 93 VR since new, been a great car, done over 316000 ks, motor still very good, recently had reconditioned Auto put in, but after a while, going through the box, and reaching over 2000 revs, would get a winding noise that seemed to be associated with revs. In overdrive, under 200 revs, all very good, over 2000 revs noise just starting to come in again. Consulted Holden dealers, no idea what it was, consulted transmission specialist, no idea. Thansmission specialist offered to disconect torque converter and see if noise still there, this being done, now have bloody constant rumbling coming from transmission and still have winding noise. Also, when car is on inkline to rear in stationary position, noise is more pronounced, turn the car round so that it inklines to the front, the noise decreases considerably as though something was floating around inside, (transmission specialist words). Have you ever experienced anything like this? I am so frustrated because no one knows what the problem is and want to pull the whole thing appart. Can you help please.

Hi doc, could you please point me in the right direction with my speedo?
I sourced a level 2 dash from a Lexcen for my S1 VN and noticed the speedo facia was different, I took the needle off and changed the facia with the old one off my commy dash.
Ever since that my speedo has been out reading by 20ish k's too high at 110K/hr.
I think i might have put the needle back on wrong when i reassembled it although it is at zero when stationary.
I can get a complete speedo from my brother for nothing and change it over or is it possible to reset my speedo?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Dave, in theory it will fit, there may be some differences in the mounts & O2 sensor locations though.
the stainless will last longer, may make a slight difference in sound, will flow the same as an equivalent mild steel one.

you should be able to put the needle back on in the right spot, you will have to runthe car up to a known speed & get the needle back on then, or get the other speedo head & sit them side by side & set it the same.

Thank you for answering Rob, The winding noise changes with the revs, its almost like the old dif noises we used get yesteryear but always over the 2000 revs. The rumbling noise is definately in drive and is always there, even if I select nutural while driving. I did just get a mechanic to put the car on the hoist with the motor running, and he believes that the noise is coming from the transmission but he is not a transmission expert.

Hi Dr Bob, my mate is sellin his vs soon. I saw in another thread that you can get a breakdown of the vin. I am interested in what you can find out about this vin 68hvsk19vsl814779(not sure about my writing it could be usl instead of vsl). It will be listed on e-bay shortly after the front skirt is repaired and i just want to clarify exactly what it is. Cheers Shane
