Just did the ute last week…..Dobinson springs and Koni adjustable shocks. Sits lower, feels firmer, but smoother than stock. Might be also due to having done 160,000kms on the original suspension before the upgrade as I’m sure the shocks were pretty well stuffed.

Just had a service completed on the ute (2009 VE SSV) and the invoice says they have used Castrol Magnatec Pro 10W-30. I'm pretty sure this isn't the correct spec for the engine? The engine sounded different when I started it up. The manual says 5w/30 or 10w/30, but the specs from the Castrol...

Anyone have any idea what this whistling/whining noise is on the ute? Its a stock 2009 SSV apart from a 3in catback. It starts 6 secs in....lasts for about 5 secs and then disappears. Only get it at on a cold start up.

Maybe similar mods to ex police vehicles...i think they used to call it a country pack (suspension)?

If you get onto Holden Customer Service (I did it through Facebook) and request the maps for free. I took delivery of my SV6 ute in Nov (June Build). I said i would presume that the update would be free as the maps that it came with are about 5 years out of date. He authorised it...and its...

Going on that the 3rd from the bottom is the Satnav version.....its the same version 84019565 30.11.OF.11 that i have in the ute....build date of June 17 and delivery Nov 17. So yep, no update.

I was more talking about a better tune...especially if you go the headers. If you have a look at the attached dyno print out...i was the same situation as you...oztrack tune (incl gearbox), then fitted headers and took it to active for a retune. The gearbox was the most noticable difference...

Not wanting to bag any one...but my suggestion would be to take the car to someone like Active Automotive and have it re-tuned. Happy to share my before and after printout from the same remote tune vs AA tune on my previous VE SS ute....but in between i did add headers (still had the same CBE)...

I would just ring around the local locksmiths...might turn out just as cheap to get it all from them. Last time i got one for a VE done it was around $200 all up for a new flip key. Thats' here in Perth

Used to own a VX S Super 6.....added A2A intercooler, machined snout to run a smaller pulley wheel, exhaust, tune...everything else stock. Ran a best of 13.01 @ around 110mph ..... next up was a diff change...but ended up selling the car. This was back in 2006. Even got it featured in Street...

Seems a bit weird in this day and age of allowing them to just write on part of the cover......dosn't matter to me...just a bit strange. Im guessing its when its made...as its about 4 months before the actual ute build date.

Have you actually priced the 18 vs 19's....sometimes there's not that much difference.....and its not something you do often anyway ? Remember....It'll change the look of the car as well......

Just an update...contacted the dealer to get the updated maps (released Monday 18/12 by Holden)...dealer says they wont be able to do it till 15/01 as they wont have them available till them. Called a 2nd dealer here in Perth...had no idea what i was talking about. Contacted Holden Customer...

I swapped out the mufflers for some VF/VE V8 mufflers...lasted all of 30 mins before i swapped them back to the original's. Way too much drone and just didn't sound right...i'll just put up with it being quiet.

Just heard back from Holden...they will do the map upgrade for free if i take it in before the next service.

Had been looking/waiting for a good deal to pop up....even looking 2nd hand/demo. Everything SSV and up was in the $46K+ bracket. Decided to tyak the plunge and drop back to a SV6 ute at the $35,990 d/a price..less a $500 GM partner discount. I couldn't justify the extra $20K for a new SS ute...

Sent a message to Holden via Facebook regarding the maps. Reply was that the new map update was issued Monday and as the car is less than 6 months old he was happy to have the update applied at my next service for free or can do in sooner for $179. Just waiting on a reply..as my next service...

I don't remember seeing this on my last ute (VE SS), but just took of the cover for the first time today on my MY17 SV6 ute and found this near the top corner...the car has a June 17 build date on the plate...which lines up with the 30-05-17 date on its own at the top.....the other...

stock i was getting about 11.5-12L/100km.....now a bit better...cept if i put the boot in... :yeah: btw..if your running an intercooler...youd want to be running more that 10psi boost....cause you can run that all day with out the intercooler... my mods.... 17psi, FMIC, 1.9 Rockers, twin...

also remember that im running this in a heaxy VX S Commodore...which i think is about 200kg heavier than the earlier vr-vs models...

im running 17psi pulley.....but only seeing about 12psi after the intercooler...but obviously allows more boost to be made.... when i had similar hp...226rwhp with the 10 psi (before the FMIC) ran a 13.96 @96mph that last run that i did for the 13.14 sec pass was a very hot day...because...
