what did you do to your car today?

Changed the front Rotors and Pads on the Tourer to Red Stuff and RDA blank rotors $415 ebay, Rotors only temp as I will machine the original HSV slotted rotors since they measure 31mm, still above minimum thickness of 30mm. Will throw them back on when I get the time. The old HSV rotors were...

    Bilstein / H&R / VE SSV.

Eye ball would suggest it went up. And this is understandable, high pressure gas monotube has a spring rate when under compression. So this totally makes sense to me. My wife's Calais was my old car, the progression in the suspension mods went like this, lowered from stock to Kings SL and SSL...

    Bilstein / H&R / VE SSV.

ditto, just changed out the old shocks off the E3 HSV Tourer to Bilstein B8 inserts all round. I kept the HSV standard springs though. The handling has improved dramatically... not only is the turn-in sharper, much lighter steering effort, holds much higher cornering G before it lets go...

VE Sportwagon + KPM Exhaust Drone

Firstly, I have no bias towards any brand, I believe every brand will have it's perks and flaws, there is no perfect system that meets everyone's needs. Let's clarify the science a bit Frequency, amplitude and harmonics..... Free revving and under load will produce the same frequency but...

VE Sportwagon + KPM Exhaust Drone

Sorry for digging up old thread, I was doing a search on Drone and came across this one. I have some info to share from my previous experience at Holden, some of you may know about it, it's a really simple concept, cheap too. Drone is a resonant frequency that unfortunately is aligned...

VZ Monaro GenIII overheated. Radiator Cap???

Glad to find this post, it's happening to me right now, camping at Uluru at the moment. Long hot drives to and from sites! First over heat occurrence was just right after I over took a triple road train, temp shot up to RED and engine light and safety mode engaged! I stopped and waited 30 min...

What the HELL have I done to my car???

Before I bought DashCommand I couldn't connect using another app, forgotten the name, but one of the free ones. With DashCommand, there is that 1 extra setup step involved within the app, to set the TCP address and port. After that, it connected fine. In terms of the novelty factor, I still like...

What the HELL have I done to my car???

good to hear the quick reboot worked. I have one of those ELM OBDII wifi too, I haven't had any issues with mine. Works on my Ipad with DashCommand App. I haven't looked into the data logging yet, but it seems to be able to log a fair bit of info.

What the HELL have I done to my car???

Don't know what the issue is, my guesses are 1) some of the paint got into a place that it shouldn't have? 2) the OBDII Wifi device had static and corrupted something?

Have anyone tried this self tuning package?

Just wondering if anyone here has tried this on VE? The part that caught my attention is "make optimized performance changes by editing, tuning and reprogramming cars ECU chip data" TOTAL OBD Car Diagnostics & Tuning Software | OBD-2 OBD2 Scan Tool Scanner

    Bridgestone potenza re002 tyres

I got the s001 instead of the Adren re002, it's supposed to give me more km and quieter drive apparently. as far as i can tell for the everyday driving i can't complain. Good dry and good wet performance. I haven't pushed them yet, waiting for suspension and brakes to arrive from GSLRALLY.

how much to tune a ssv manual?

You don't need to believe me, but I have worked for Holden as an engineer and have in many occassions worked with powertrain teams and spent plenty hours at the Holden lang lang proving grounds testing vehicles? When I say tune the AFR down from 14.7 doesn't imply AFR is an input into tuning...

how much to tune a ssv manual?

For more power than the factory ecu setting, timing and then it's playing with the AFR... That's really about it, optimize this for various pre starting positions over the full rev range and save as preset is your mafless tune. I am sure most if not all mafless tuned cars will run a little more...

how much to tune a ssv manual?

Hi all, The engineer in me says the operating range of the O2 and the mass flow sensors must be well within their functioning range to handle the slightly increased flow from NA upgradeds, as long as it's not forced induction. The sudden odd behaviour from newly upgraded NA cars is due to the...

FE2 vs Monroe, KYB, Pedders etc.

I have a few questions, what are the differences between the premium shocks like koni etc that makes them perform better than say cheaper brands like pedders? I am talking about the non adjustable shocks. Recalling my uni days, critically dampen setup is always the best, but the spring stiffness...

Best H7 globes for VE headlights ?

Just replaced my Calais low beams to Philips XtremeVision+100%. Yes new beam is heaps brighter now, but that's not hard to achieve if you have a look at the bulbs I took out of the car. Apologies for the poor phone camera quality. Basically both glass bulbs was completely smoked up, and the...

    Tyres for ve Calais v

I recently changed 2 tyres to Bridgestone S001, 245/40/R19, $436 each. They weren't the cheapest, but they feel pretty good compared to what I had before, which were the Dunlop SP Maxx that came with the car.

How much faster than stock is this Calais v 6.0

I'll be lucky to get below 15L/100 in my V6, it's the older 3.6L Omega, not the SIDI version. 4 Spd box doesn't help. That's why I'm pretty happy with the V8 Calais, even my wife said she likes to progressive acceleration of the Calais over the V6, I think she's got an alternative hint there...

How much faster than stock is this Calais v 6.0

Hi again, I don't really worry about fuel consumption, I put it to fuel card. I think my Trip comp is saying, around 17L/100km, comparing this to my V6 Sportwagon of around 15L/100km, it really isn't that much difference... I do 60% city, then balance suburb/Hwy.

I don't think you will be disappointed with a V8 CalaisV. I just bought one last week and I am very happy, very proud, very satisfied with it. I have a Sportwagon though, with all the practical features like roof racks and tow bar for caravan/boat etc... It's made my trip to work and back...
