Not likely, it's more likely that something has failed. Has the pick up point always been a bit low compared to clutch pedal travel? Did you replace the 2 pads on the clutch fork that push against the release bearing? Either way, it's a box out problem. Yeah the pick up/friction point has...

And with the clutch thread adjusted all the way out the clutch pedal sits bout 10mm under the brake pedal, shouldn't it be higher then the brake at that adjustment?

Well 6months old but yeah had a new HD clutch machined flywheel new pressure plate and not sure about the pivot point, it's been good since last week, is it likely that the pivot point can just go out of adjustment that quick?

Nah it doesn't slip at all while driving it, once it's in gear it's great, just getting it into gear it the problem. And It's got the stock shifter on it.

I'm definitely happy with the swap as I like the shape and size alot more of the vs then the wh's, and always been a manual fan. I was just thinking more towards the value of each, I did have the caprice up for $3500 at one point and didn't get much interest at all and I've seen a few vs ss's...

update So I got the new ecu and memcal I've been waiting for and plugged it in with battery disconnected of course, jumped it and she fired up! :)stoked I hope people learn from my mistake Cheers for all the help fellas!!

True.... the ss's seemed to be more popular and going for more $$ then a stock caprice. i forgot to mention the ss has gilmer drive too which is more of a wank factor then anything lol.

Any tricks I should know when installing and new ecu? Such as holding 2000rpm for 30sec on start up?

I think maybe just easier to buy a new one rather then solder my ecu. I've located a vs manual 5.0l ecu for $150 which seems cheap so that's on the way, should be here by Friday, Also the memcal has a sticker inside the blue cover EXVSMAN, what's the ex stand for?

Yeah thats the one. The chip is for a manual, the previous owner said he had the chip in before, never had problems and it went hard. But he also said he had the ecu unplugged before putting the chip and adaptor in.. Heres a link to the chip which looks the exact same when my chip and adaptor...

Just plugged the chip in with yes an adapter and plugged the memcal in the adapter on its side, didn't bend or damage any prongs and none of the fuses were blown. Yep + hes negative feedback is pretty bad, not to mention some of his product can be abit pricey. Apparently greenfoam is the one to see for proper performance memcals, has anyone here personally had his memcals? If so are they worth the bang for buck?

And does that apply for the vs? I've heard that the vn 6 and 8s can use the same ecu just wasn't sure on vs models

I havnt bought a ecu from him but the ss I bought came with one of his 192kw performance chips that he sells, so I plugged it in and fried my ecu somehow, when I hit him up about it he told me to try all this different sh*t and nothing work then he said to get a v6 ecu and put my v8 memcal and...

Also trx100 told me that vs v6 and v8 ecu's are the same they just run different memcals? I don't think that is right, could someone confirm this?

Yeah it's from a vs clubsport and apparently the memcal has been tuned for big cams heads, stroker kit, big motor. So I'll have to run my ss memcal in the hsv ecu

Okay I'll follow your advice and see how I go, I did check all fusible links and there fine, after I'd done the first memcal swap I took apart the ecu and noticed a strong smell coming from inside so I'm sure I've fried it. And will definitely be unplugging it next time! Thanks for your help.

Hi there I may have fried the ecu in my vs ss by trying to chip it without disconnecting the battery or computer and now have access to a hsv enhanced ecu, will the hsv one be plug and play? Is there a difference between a manual ss computer and a manual hsv computer?

Also I might have access to a hsv enhanced ecu and memcal, will this be compatible with my ss, can I plug and play?

I have no idea about anything like getting error codes, I'm amateur when it comes to do with anything electrical, is there another way to tell if the ecu is buggered?
