Car won’t start svs message and dash cluster possessed.

Nah I don’t think so mate, I did notice at one point some very fine print numbers come up like a serial number of some sort, don’t know what that’s about.

Car won’t start svs message and dash cluster possessed.

G’day folks. Would anyone have an idea what’s going here, I’ve recently got a service vehicle soon (svs) message and car doesn’t crank, just immediately shuts down. back lights in instruments cluster goes on and off randomly and now the dash is going haywire with instruments (needles)...

Vz missing at around 80k and underload. Diagnostic plz help

That’s interesting, my vz’s plenum gasket wasn’t fibre unless the previous owner had changed it over at 30k which would be unusual.

Vz missing at around 80k and underload. Diagnostic plz help

From my understanding and what the manual suggests due to the internal circuitry of the 3.6lt coils there are no resistance specifications that can accurately identify the values. If you had a miss on idle you could try and diagnose by pulling individual coils.

Vz missing at around 80k and underload. Diagnostic plz help

Find it odd you’re not throwing up a powertrain fault and limp mode is enabled. You can just raise the plenum or take off necessary hoses and clips to just shift the plenum and manifold to the side keeping it a 2 piece and the plenum gasket is reusable as it uses a hard heat resistant plastic...

Can’t align wheels. lower, upper, inner, outer?

Thanks for the feedback guys cheers. I think I’m better off going back and getting it rechecked. argh!! this certainly looks like one issue found but several more pop up type of fixes. Shockies are probably due by now so while I’m replacing top strut mount bushes I’ll replace all 4 shocks. Cheers

I’m assuming you’re talking about this

Can’t align wheels. lower, upper, inner, outer?

So the wife returns the vz home after getting 2 front tyres replaced today but no wheel alignment could be done as requested due to unknown damage because the wife can’t remember what the service desk attendant said about damage and where, we have no documentation on receipt about it and I’ve...

    SVZ overheat and powertrain warning

I once accidentally pinched the overflow tube after a cai mod was done causing overheating, quite easy for pressurised fluid to pass into overflow tube but vacuum pressure is another story, check if you’re getting a return of fluid from the overflow bottle when the engine is cool. But as...

    Overheating Crewman

You didn’t mention wether you replaced the coolant once the o-ring seal blew..I’m assuming you did as you mentioned you “dumped all coolant” and filled from the neck, not the overflow bottle so my next question is did you bleed the system after you topped up and replaced the water pump? Using...

    Check Powertrain alarm

I had an ignition problem when I was throwing up a powertrain fault last year but would correct itself out of limp mode when the car was switched off and never had starting issues, this went on for a while till funds and time became available to fix. I can only assume this sounds like a fuel...

    Check Powertrain alarm

I would certainly start there...from memory when you turn the accessories on, the pump should briefly kick in, build pressure and switch off.

    Check Powertrain alarm

Have you checked wether there’s a noticeable noise from the fuel pump when you open the spout?

    V6 timing chain issues

Bought the car at 47k and now sitting on a relatively young 110k. The picture above was from 107k roughly. I would say mainly 7k intervals throughout my ownership but can’t say accurately as condition of oil and a good guess would hit me on 5k changes. :)

How to fix my fuel line filter

Should be pretty straight forward, just remember to release the pressure in fuel line before connections are released, the filter may be one directional and most likely you’ll have quick connect fuel line connectors and there are several ways to release those.

    V6 timing chain issues

I’ve had a clean reliable alloytec doing 5-7k oil changes using quality full syn oil. after a rocker gasket change I was impressed how clean it was with 0 gunk build up, I did however notice (as the video describes) some old burnt oil on the driver side bank, mainly on the rocker arms, so my...

    V6 timing chain issues

I’ve read somewhere that the pcv valve can be removed using a firm grip on pliers but I’m not 100% sure on that particular source of information or willing to suggest anyone trying.
  18. Mick06 svz

    V6 timing chain issues

From what read the pcv valve on the alloytec is fixed from factory and cannot be removed, my guess is because it’s not a spring loaded valve and regulated through the 2 small holes base of pcv, cleaning should be the only maintenance required says gm’s engineering dept. not sure wether you...

    V6 timing chain issues

A few pics from my old thread if anyone is interested. I plan on doing this mod with a duel catch can setup some time down the track. These pics were from a bloke doing this mod from the states posted in a corvette forum. Engine was from a Cadillac CTS, identical to the alloytec.

[NSW] Looking into a VZ, need advice

You’ll love the location of the thermostat and the original water pump likes to throw a bearing early. Do your normal checks before buying one though and ask about it’s service history, wether the major service was done, from memory these motors are fitted with iridium or platinum plugs from...

[NSW] Looking into a VZ, need advice

Have a look at early model alloytec threads on this site, there is a seperate vz section that will tell you most things to look out for. Have a look at the roller chains issue’s, motor slugging due to poor maintenance, Check out the diameter of pcv valve compared to new models. You’ll...

Looking for a 2004 VZ owners manual

What do want to know? Full descriptions of manuals are a dime in a dozen and I’m guessing due to copyright infringement laws. Maybe throw up some specific concerns you have here or purchase one through Supercheap online?

    7hsd to 8hsd

Are you quoting the serial no’s or box spec? I think the 4l60E (4speed) or 5l40E (5speed) were fitted to the vz’s? Are you attempting to install a 5speed to an original 4 speed vehicle?

    FIRST CAR - 2008 VE SV6 !!

I thought the elongation of timing chains was corrected in 07, replacing the 9.5mm roller pitch design to 7.7mm inverted tooth. It’s got me stumped how the issues still followed after the correction. Maybe someone could share some insight? my 06 vz is still using the roller pitch chains and it’s...

Vy or Vz for first car?

Haha I wouldn’t even put $7 5ltr oil in my Honda mower let alone a vehicle. But hey there might be some success story’s with the old home brand motor oil from woollies floating around the web..:)

    FIRST CAR - 2008 VE SV6 !!

Myself personally, I wouldn’t invest anything based on looks when it comes to handling. I prefer not to have the hassle’s of a lowered car but invest in good shock absorbers or coil overs. But that’s just my opinion...

    FIRST CAR - 2008 VE SV6 !!

9.5k seems overpriced. If you want to haggle the price I suggest you do the obvious and question everything..how’s it’s service history, any major repairs, does the box shift hard or slip, any irregular noises, inspect interior, instruments and trim for defects, any old codes it threw up, the...

Will Kia Stinger really flog an SS?

I’ve owned a Hyundai Getz and had mates with excels back in my younger years, I will say those cars were good bang for buck, those cars (although loud engines) would cop a serious floggin lasting well over 200ks with only clutch and cv replacements.

Will Kia Stinger really flog an SS?

I really don’t see how surprising it is for a 6 cyl twin turbo be quicker then a v8 from factory. I remember in the 90’s watching 300zx z32’s 3.0ltr dett motors, missing gears on stock motor floging the 5.0. But good job by Holden keeping respectful times.

Alloytec camshaft lobe wear (RHS) + pcv mod

Sure thing, will be some time before I start this mod. Catch cans need to ordered, pipes need to be cleaned and plenum. Till the available funds and time comes available I’ll commence. Not to mention I’m not to enthusiastic talking the plenum apart again after the rocker service was done. But...
