1 inch cordless DA polisher - Best bang for buck.

You can't go wrong with Flex. Powerful, light, smooth, quiet. XFE 7-15 is an all-rounder. Buy it once and you won't have to buy another one until you can justify cordless. https://detailingshed.com.au/collections/flex-polishers-germany/products/flex-xfe-7-15-150

Agree, gotta stay clear of exposed electricals. Bloody big black plastic engine cover kinda helps protect those spark plugs. :)

Having a battle with Holden due lifters

Your fight with Holden will be long and painful and because you can't prove the 30,000km oil change was done, your argument is weak. So there's a good chance you'll lose the case and incur costs. Have you got a second opinion from a respected mechanic yet? One of your better options I'd...

Engine Bay Cleaning - LS3 VF

Agreed. My Holden is the weekender. Engine bay gets an occasional light hose and wipe down when needed. 303 Aerospace Protectant used to shiny up the black plastics. The little daily Honda doesn't get as much TLC and is used by three drivers in the family. It's engine bay was a dusty pig...

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

Thanks lmoengnr, that's exactly what I'm after. A small improvement to handling response without the added NVH, to compliment the new coilovers. Cheers!

Engine Bay Cleaning - LS3 VF

Been doing it for years and never had an electrical problem, using both garden hose AND pressure washer on the occassion. Just steer clear of exposed electricals and don't let water pool anywhere. Wipe down with a drying cloth so you don't get water/mineral spots.

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

Ok I've pulled the trigger on the SuperPro's. They seem to fit the 'Do it Once, Do It Right' mantra. Spending $35 on aftermarket rubber replacements, only to have them collapse and need replacing again in two years is a false economy to me. SuperPro schpeel... Part no SPF1590AK SUPER PRO...

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

Thanks Imoegnr. I've decided not to go with the SuperPro Polyurethane version based on NVH increases that even SuperPro acknowledge it has. Will stick with the SuperPro Polyelast version. Any performance difference between OEM rubber mount and SuperPro Polyelast mount?

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

So you've not noticed ANY increase in NVH after fitting SuperPro Polyelast top mounts lowandslow? Did you notice any performance differences?

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

In what way? Yes. In this case it'll be H&R/Bilstein coilovers. Compression & rebound tuned specifically for the VF & spring rate matched. Height adjustable only. Factory strut mounts are re-used.

Opinions on Best Front Strut Top Mount. Pedders or SuperPro?

Guys, I'm having H&R coilovers fitted in a few weeks. I'm thinking I may do a little preventative maintenance while the front struts are out and replace the OEM rubber top strut mounts that apparently have a tendency to collapse/fail early. I'm chasing improved steering/cornering response...

    VF driver seat base CLICKING

In just this last week I've experienced a seat click/movement under hard braking. Then noticed it the next day with spirited acceleration. Are these the same circumstances/symptoms for which you guys experience the clicking? Or do your symptoms occur more due to lateral g-forces?

    Tr6060 gearbox oil? Bearing noises?

The Penrite ProGear 70W-75 is good stuff. Will smoothen out the shifts, ESPECIALLY 1st to 2nd when cold (but can require a little patience until warm). The ProGear is definitely an improvement over the factory fill ATF, BUT is not a fix for an existing mechanical problem. I second the posts...

    Hearing Whistling sound

Mine is Sep16 manufactured so also has the revised under-bonnet lip. I 'assume' that if the whistling disappears when I crack the drivers window open, then the source of the whistle can't be from some other location outside the car. If it was, the whistling would continue regardless of...

    Hearing Whistling sound

Ive noticed that if I ever so slightly crack the drivers side window, the whistle disappears. Close the window again and the whistle comes back. Seems like it might just be the door seal.

I’ll second that. I still have the issue in cool humid weather.

    Insurance agreed value increase

Cool mate, all good. You may not have noticed my reply was to Dirty Harry's post, not yours. :)
  26. T

    Insurance agreed value increase

You might be getting some terminology confused: - Agreed Value: Is the insurable value you agree with the insurer to cover you for. In the event of a complete loss, the insurer will pay you the agreed value. Agreed value doesn't change unless you and the insurer agree to change the value. -...

    Fuel injector failure

To those who've had their injectors replaced by Holden: (1) Did you find out what the actual fault is? (2) Did they replace with different injector/part# or the same injector/part#? (3) What are those part numbers? I'm thinking that if all Holden is doing is not disclosing the fault and...

Keeping Drl lights on at night..

Yeah nah... I think most cops know their Commodores & HSV's very well. Most of them have driven Police pack Commodores over the years and know the differences. The number of times my kids have told me the cops were checking out my car as they passed us, is hilarious. :) Whether or not they...

Redline 75K service, new battery - higher CCA is that a problem?

Heat, cold and insufficient charging is what kills car batteries. They get heat in the engine bay, cold if parked outside over winter and insufficient charging if not driven for at least 20 to 30 minutes after an engine start. They typically die slowly and you may not even be aware of it. One...

    Oil additives

The reason for using Moly (talking Mos2 here; I can't comment on CeraTec) is not to quieten down noisy mechanical lifters in an engine that already has notoriously noisy lifters. Moly is preventative maintenance for metal to metal contact in circumstances where the oil cannot effectively do...

Redline 75K service, new battery - higher CCA is that a problem?

Nope, extra cold cranking capacity is nothing to worry about. You can condition & top up your battery with a trickle charger at least once a month for longer battery service life. For example: https://www.ctek.com/products/vehicle/mxs-5-0 Get them online or from eBay suppliers. Mine is 12...

    Oil additives

The Pro Ma MBL8 is another molybdenum disulfide based product and the taxi and diesel, caravan towing crowd seem to be big fans. I looked into that one in the past and they're very secretive about the product ingredients. A friend of mine was a distributor for a while and confirmed that the...

    Oil additives

You're spot on Ron. I didn't give any measurable evidence... I didn't intend to. It's a post about my experience in response to the OP's question. And you're right again, oil companies DO spend a lot on R&D for their oils. Some of them use molybdenum disulfide in their additive packages...

    Dexos oil

To make it even more confusing, there's a 'Dexos 1', a 'Dexos 2', and a 'Dexos 1 Gen 2'. Dexos 2 is designed for diesels, so even though it may be fine for your petrol engine (it'll certainly keep it damn clean) Dexo 1, or Dexos 1 Gen 2 is what's intended for your petrol engine by...

    Oil additives

Liqui-Moly MoS2 for me. Been using it since 2005 in all my cars. - Can quieten engines down a little bit, some more than others. - Improved fuel consumption claims are so minimal it's impossible to measure. - It's preventative maintenance, providing long term engine wear protection under...
