    VF SS first modifications

Hi Flaggers. No I didn't. It may depend on what you want to do with your car that may determine this. The cam package that Dale uses for Auto's is actually quite mild but very well sorted for a street car and works fine with a standard converter. If I remember correctly, specs are something...

    VF SS first modifications

Good advice Milo 6.0. Dale did all of that on mine but my issue turned out to be a vaulty Maf which explains why it was good when l first picked up but went to custard later on. Even though that was the case, Dale put on another Maf for me (guess he’s got a few from Maffless tunes) and...

    VF SS first modifications

Hi Flaggers. I checked GM Motorsport (GM does good work too) site prices and pretty comparable but you would need to get an updated price from DPM as mine has been done for a while now. Dale uses quality components and offers a choice of exhaust between his own design or a DPE system (slightly...

    VF SS first modifications

Hi Flaggers. My 2 bobs worth after going through lots of pain before gain. 1. Research research. If you're going to have the car for a long time, there's no hurry (Mistake no 1 for me) 2. If it's an SS, get a Brake Upgrade first. There's no substitute for having great brakes to improve the...

    Cam Upgrade

+1 for both at the same time Chuck B. I freaked a bit at the cost originally but I knew it was where I was going to end up one day anyway, so bit the bullet. Haven't regretted it for a minute and can't wipe the smile off my face every time I drive it. Biggest hurdle was the Mrs of course...

Exhaust System for VF SS-V Redline.

That is an important point to remember for sure. I wish I had spent more time earlier on listening to systems in person to find what I liked instead of being told what someone else thinks. Got there in the end. Performance wise, reputable branded systems are all pretty close and good tuners...

Exhaust System for VF SS-V Redline.

Exactly. Sounds ok at the pub over some beers but in practise you would be hard pressed to tell + or - 5kw redlined at WOT. Under that, the smaller pipes do a better job in the rev range you will drive it 99% of the time.

Exhaust System for VF SS-V Redline.

Hi Paulymac. I can give you the benefit of my previous experiences and hopefully is of some help. First. Any decent tuners are around $900 to a Grand. After spending plenty trying to save a bit here and there, I ended up at Dale Patterson Motorsport and couldn't be any happier with the...

    Shortened Shocks: Options and recomendations

Mine has had the Shockworks coilovers on it for around a year now and am very happy with them. Brett, Chris and Tim provide great service and advice. I'll be booking back in to get the upgrade rear end set up when I can. Being able to get the exact ride height is nice but it takes a bit of...

    Shock Experience

Hi All, well I started out almost 18 months ago wanting to lower my VF 2 Redline and finally got there today. I thought I would share my journey as it was plagued with doing plenty of research only to end in frustration one way or another either because, I found out the product I thought would...

    Where's NAAF Gone?

Arh Crap. He really seemed to know his stuff and helped a lot of forum members out. Good practical knowledge and approach. Will be missed. :-(

    Where's NAAF Gone?

Hey All, anyone know if NAAF is still around? I noticed he hasn't been active since end of last year. Anyway, wanted to get on to him about some Manta Stuff.

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Sounds good JohnRedline. Glad you're happy with how it worked out. LS1SS, have you got any pics yet with the circlip on the top?

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

In short, yes. Just have to realise there would be some level of limitation. Car companies have to cover all the bases for what you are likely do with the vehicle and in Australia, that's a lot of variation. In this case, where most of us are only going to be in mostly ideal circumstances...

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Spoke to a guy the other day who does suspension work for V8 supercars. He explained why Eibach & H&R don't go so well with FE3 and it made perfect sense. Euro guys have a different approach to spring and shock rates (stiffer springs and softer shocks). Mainly due to very different driving...

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

JohnRedline, I would PM Bigjim92 if you want to know about the J&R coilovers? He's had them on for quite some time, so would be able to tell you if there are any issues at all. When I spoke to him, he had nothing but praise as a long term user of the product and gave a good description of how...

    Ramjet Headers

I have the 2.5 inch HSV mid section on mine as well. Only reason I have the HSV's for sale is I upgraded the headers plus high flow cats, OTR and tune. Made a big difference but obviously cost a lot of coin too. With the HSV tri y's, 2.5 mid section and just the factory tune, it was exactly...

    Ramjet Headers

If your not totally sold on the Ramjets, I have some real good condition HSV R8 SV 340 Tri Y's and factory cats the will bot straight up to your stock catback. Low cost, good gains, sounds nicer that stock and wont need a tune to keep the engine light off.

If they sold you the Eibachs, hopefully they'll trade them or look after you on price with the H&R's

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Great choice. Bigjim92 has those on his ride and loves them with a passion. They are pricey but definitely high quality and the adjustable height thing means you can get exactly what. I gather that you'll be ditching the Eibachs then?

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Ha Ha, that's gold. At least she isn't given you a hard time about why you changed it :-) When you get a chance, post some pics with is raised at the back, would like to see how that came up. Do you think it has settled yet though?

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

I made some enquiries with Pedders around spring rates, shocks etc some time back and didn't get much value out of them from a technical perspective whereas Bilstein, Eibach and H&R gave me heaps of info. I think their workshops are generally pretty good and really helpful, so understand your...

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Thanks for the heads up JohnRedline. Certainly appreciate anything that helps to point in the right direction. LS1SS, I looked at Eibachs a while back but was put off by issues others where having with rear ride heights, especially on VF 2's. Paulie81 went back to them a lot of times trying...

    Lowering VF2 SSV Redline Sedan

Thanks Jono. What you described sounds pretty much on par with FE3. Considering you have a better ride height, that's not bad at all.

LS Exhaust Comparison Gold! HSV Headers vs Aftermarket Tri-Y's & 4-1's. What would you choose?

IF anyone is interested, I have some HSV 340 Tri Y's with cats in great nic looking for a new home. Easy bolt up to stock cat back with no engine light, good gains across rev range and cheap as for what they are.

    Redline front tyre choices

For what it's worth, went from the stock 19's (still have them) to 20's (standard Holden size 275 x 30 back 245 x 35 front) on mine and barely noticed any difference in ride. Some argue 19's work better but I can't tell much difference. Definitely like the look of it with 20's Just got to...

    VF 2 Redline Spring Rates

Great info monster, thanks. Holden claim to have reduced spring rate on VF2 rear down 60N/mm to 55N/mm (whatever that equates to in kg/mm I'm not sure). I know that part the part numbers for VF2 Calais springs and Redline are the same, so just shocks are different to change characteristics and...

    Holden warranty service

Not long picked my Redline up and specifically remember them telling me the within 3K was ok as long as it's not outside 3 month window. They did say however, that this can't be a continuing trend either.

    VF 2 Redline Spring Rates

Thanks 3rspecB, Linear is the right terminology. Do you know the spring rates for front? And is VF1 & VF2 the same?
  38. Sheppbloke

    VF 2 Redline Spring Rates

Pretty sure they're single rate. I'm thinking the shift to a softer spring on the VF2 at the rear was just Holden using the same as FE2 (which part number appears the same) with the same fronts as VF1 Redline.

    VF 2 Redline Spring Rates

    VF 2 Redline Spring Rates

Hey Guys, does anyone know what the front and rear spring rates are on a VF2 Redline Sedan? Part numbers are Front:92290030 Rear:92250236 Supposedly, VF 2 have 55N/mm rear springs but the part number seems as a Calais, SS, SSV etc so I'm confused and the front part number seems the same as VF...
