Sudden Loss of Power Steering WHEN DRIVING

Good Luck. After two years of debates with Holden because my VIN is not on the list and video evidence of the problem, still nothing. I've just given up, which is probably what Holden/GM wanted. So they win. My next car wont be a Holden or GM anyway. Going to get myself a 6.4L Hemi Jeep. Service...

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

I have an Arduino to do the PWM stuff. Output that PWM from the Arduino into an OP-AMP with a 10V feed to get the 10V PWM signal, then feed that into the Pin on the exhaust value and bingo. I've done it before so if you need any info, just let me know.

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

Unfortunately the values require a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal to command the value open or closed. Specifically a 10 Volt PWM @ 200Hz with 20% duty for closed and 80% for Open. A strange setup but that's what GM did.

Hi, I do have a few PCBs left. If you want to message me your address, I'll send on in the post this week. I'll also send a copy of the schematics, the microcontroller code and the andoid app I developed. Kind Regards, John

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

I'd be very interested in seeing this. I've wanted to do something like that for a few years now, but don't have the time at the moment.

    VF bimodal pin diagram

I'm not sure what you are refering to. That plug is a direct connect fit to the exhaust valve module and there is nothing else required to secure it. EDIT: I saw the pictures and I have no idea where to get the plastic surround. I didn't use them on my retrofit and haven't had a problem in...

    VF bimodal pin diagram

I purchased them from Aliexpress here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32850617234.html. They have been on the car now for 18 months. No problems. If you're interested, I listed all the parts I used in a previous post in this thread...

Oil Change for a VE 6.0L

I use one of the vacuum pumps, but for my V8 I only use it for the Diff oil. But in my V6 the pump is great. Don't need to jack the car up at all. In the V6, the oil filter is at the top on the passanger side so it makes it really easy.

Sudden Loss of Power Steering WHEN DRIVING

My VIN is FL14xxxx and falls outside the range. Holden is in firm believe that my car has been fitted with the re-engineered part and there for the fault is not related to the recall issue. And for them to say I need to leave the car with them until they can reproduce the problem is absurd given...

Sudden Loss of Power Steering WHEN DRIVING

"{NAME WITHHELD}" at Heartland Holden in Penrith NSW told me that unless the fault occurs while "They" (being Holden) have the car, they will not be able to identify the source of the fault. Seeing as it have been 2 years between faults, I am not leaving my car with Holden until the fault...

Sudden Loss of Power Steering WHEN DRIVING

Thanks. I have a photo of the fault on the Dash, and an entry in my Log book with the kms (Which also match my photo) and the GPS location on the photo which also matches my Log book entry. So are you saying they should be able to check the Steering Rack and see if it has the revised part?

Sudden Loss of Power Steering WHEN DRIVING

I hate to say this guy and gals, but Holden are useless. Holden are swearing black and blue that my Caprice has the latest components and will not repair as part of the recall. Yet my car still had the problem. They have said I will need to pay for all investigation and repair costs. Holden can...

    Flexfuel E85 on a MY15 VF Series 1

Does anyone know if the VF Series 1 (MY15) has the Flexfuel sensor install but disabled, or if the wiring loom is still there to add one. My engine tuner can easily enable the sensor (Which is currently disabled), but I need to know if the sensor can be added easily, and can someone also point...

[Safety Recall] Electric Power Steering — MY2014 to MY2016 Holden & HSV, VF Commodore & WN Caprice

I just had my power steering go on my MY15 WN Caprice. A 2 tonne front heavy V8 with wide 19" wheels (Stock for caprice) is almost impossible to maneuver with no assistance. I have driven non power steering cars before, but that was dangerous. I was lifting my arse out of the seat trying to...

Do you like or hate the new Commodore?

Nah. The Passat's not fast enough. All the coppers I've seen with ZBs are all running the 235kw V6. I've heard they are tuned and making 255kw.

Do you like or hate the new Commodore?

Say what you want about the new Holden Commodore. It is a very nice car. It Drives well and the V6 goes pretty hard. Is it a "Commodore" though. No. It should never have had the commodore badge put on it. Holden should have retired the Commodore name with the VF2 and just given the ZB a new...

    Service ESP.

I though I'd share my experience today. I had a Service ESP warning with a check engine light this morning. The engine would start but was running rough. I ran my HPTuners scan tool and got a Cylinder 2 injector Open Circuit error P0202 and Cylinder 2 Misfire detected P0302. I disconnected the...

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

The PWM needs to run at 200Hz, no ifs or buts. Higher or Lower and you get nothing. The Standard Arduino PWM signal can not be set to 200Hz. You need to manually adjust the registers to get it right. A square wave signal is perfect and 10V is right on. When I get back to my Dev PC, I'll send you...

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

I'm very interested to see if you come up with a design that costs less than mine. Over $100 in parts. https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/vf-bimodal-pin-diagram.256454/page-3#post-2988389

    VF bimodal pin diagram

I've only ever seen the 5 pin versions. I'm not sure what the 4 pin version looks like. I'd have to see one to see if it works the same. All the VF Series 2 bimodals I've seen are 5 pin. I will need to work out how I can fund the purchase of all the parts.

    VF bimodal pin diagram

I've had my first version of the board working perfectly in my car for about 6 weeks now. Works exactly as planned. The remote will be much better though as having to connect and use the phone is "Illegal" and remote will be much simpler. The Bluetooth via phone can still be used to setup some...

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

It's at over $100 just for the parts, not including assemble of the circuit board.
  25. John Revill

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

Unfortunately it's not that simple. The values have 3 wires. +12V, GND, and a signal wire. The signal wire is not a simple power on, no power off setup. It is a +10V 200Hz PWM signal with 20% duty cycle for off and 80% duty cycle for on. Why that made it this complicated I have no idea. I have...

    VF bimodal pin diagram

I've had another project I needed to finish but just got back into this one. I have received the remote and rewritten the controller to support the remote. I plan to test it this week. I problem at the moment is the cost of the off the shelf parts I am using. The project is not as cheap as I had...

And the project as planned is now pretty much complete. Wiring is done, The box has everything in it and the Bluetooth control is working. I'll try capture a good video this afternoon. Having used it, I now plan to add a $4 remote control so I don't have to use the phone. And this will be...

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

Did you find a fuse tap with the right angle lead or did you break the plastic tip off and bend the wire? My fuse tap lead sticks out straight into the big box below it (X300 on the fuse box diagram).

    VF bimodal pin diagram

Thanks Stooge. I though I had checked these fuses before with no luck. I checked them again an hour ago and they work just fine for what I need. So I have my mufflers modified and fitted. The VF2 mufflers do not fit a Caprice because the caprice is longer. So I have to get the tips extended...

    VF bimodal pin diagram

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

You are a ledged. I have not had time to recheck my wiring for my project, but I was positive I have already checked these fuses for an ignition switched fuse. You found it and I have just tested it again on my car and it is definitely the correct fuse. Don't know how I missed it before. Looks...

VF bi modal valve on after market mufflers.

The Holden bimodal mufflers and designed differently internally. Basically one outlet is a straight through design and the other outlet goes through the baffles. When the valve is open, the exhaust come out the straight through tip. When it is closed it goes through the baffles and out the other...

Working Solution to Retrofit VF2 Bimodal mufflers

The project is on hold at the moment. I am close to finishing my current project and will be back on the case in about a week. I will be making some changes to the circuit.
  34. John Revill

    Electronic Bi-Modal Valves

Good idea Stooge, but will probably need to use a transistor to power the motor and PWM the power to it. Driving a brushed DC motor at full power with no rotation will probably overheat the motor or burn out the brushed or windings. Worst still it may damage the gears. I've noticed with the...

    How much would you pay?

I have been a V8 owner/driver for 30 years and not likely to change any time soon. The ZB is actually a very nice car, but you could give me a ZB for nothing and I still wouldn't keep it. Sorry Holden, but you really F@#$ed up there. No amount of "V8s are too expensive" will convince me...

    VF2 fuel consumption

    Post tunes

Spot on @Tryg . You have to get a before and after. My old LS1 got a full tune on the dyno and before they started got 160kW. Once they had finished they got 227kW. If you work that out, it's a 41.9% increase. If you take the stock tune as factory stated at 225kW at the engine, that makes it...

Could Holden pull off a ZB SS?

Not true. The V6 Supercharged Ecotec released in the VT2 products 171kw and 375Nm. The V8 at the time was the first Gen3 and it was pulling 220kw and 446Nm. Even the Series I VTs 5.0L could manage 179kw and 400Nm. They killed off the V6 because it was more expensive to produce and had to run on...

Could Holden pull off a ZB SS?

If they want to stuff a V8 in it, then maybe they can put an SS badge on it. They've already bastardize the Commodore name. Don't do the same to the SS badge as well. No V8, No SS.

    VFII Bimodal Exhaust maintenance

Pulling the fuse or relay will leave the exhaust valve open all the time, so in loud mode. There is a spring in the valve that holds it in the open position. So its the equivalent of having the bimodal setting ON all the time.
