Shocks for a VZ Wagon (Country Pack)

Thanks for the suggestion. I called up Holden and they did indeed come up with a part number, 92104245. I'll see if they're the right ones after the weekend!

Shocks for a VZ Wagon (Country Pack)

I've recently decided to fix up my suspension, mostly by replacing bushings. I've been trying to look for a set of rear shocks after discovering that my shocks were both leaking, and get this, the previous owner bodged one of the shocks with what appears to be a sedan shock! No wonder the car...

    VZ service manual

Is there any way to get a copy of the Holden Service Manual that covers the VZ (not the Hayne's or Max Ellery one that's mostly about the EcoTec?). This seems to be an impossible thing to acquire!

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

So I did apply some heat with a creme brulee torch to help (probably did not do too much given the huge heatsink), the filter will burn for about a second then die off when you hit the flame with it.

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

Oh yea, made sure to torque it to at least 250nm :p

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

Quick update, a few whacks with a cold chisel and it was off. After that, I modded a cheap vac with a straw to suck up everything in the chamber (the intake port had just a few pieces. Reinstallation was straightforward. Engine runs without a problem.

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

I think it's attached by 5 bolts, I can access 3, can't even see the other 2, not even with sticking a phone down there. To remove it, it looks like the A/C compressor is in the way, something I really don't want to have to take out. TBH, not too worried about the alloy getting inside, nothing a...

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

Thanks for the offer! I'm fairly far away, in St Lucia. Also I got impatient and probably did something stupid took off much of the head to hopefully cut away the thread from the inside. Screwdriver and a hammer do jack all to jolt it into turning! Starting to really dislike whoever did this one...

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

Main thing is to figure how to get the stupid thing off now. I've no idea how I can get it off, should I break it off piece by piece until it unscrews? Caps are about $30 online or $38 at Supercheap so that's not too expensive.

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

It's definitely the oil filter cap, like the one this poor bloke snapped off: https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/broke-the-oil-filter-cover-please-help.190187/ It's not strength that's the problem, I just don't want to break the alloy cap!

Oil filter cap, how to get it off?

I've now fixed up my car's electronics, which was a royal pain. I need to change its oil and filter, but have the infamous galled oil filter cap problem, I've probably put 2x the force required to crack the wheel lug nuts using a 60cm breaker bar and it still won't move! At this point I'm afraid...

    ECU programming TIS2Web advice

Yea, I'm trying to get the seller to give me a full refund, they're not willing to pay return postage though, claiming it was my fault (how?) that I didn't know that their device can't be used on 2nd hand ECUs. I should probably just take that, but still feel a little pissed about it. To answer...

    ECU programming TIS2Web advice

Yea, always make sure I finish my stories! I hate it when someone's problem is fixed and they never say anything about what worked! Link to Tech2 clone (Pick Model G, they give you v147.000): https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143171270223 Link to VCX Nano clone (I got the WiFi version, heard the...

    ECU programming TIS2Web advice

So, sunk some cash into getting a clone Tech2. Plug it all in, flash works no problems, car starts up with no errors after weeks of being bricked by a POS flash tool. Instrument panel flashed as well to get all the option menu items (courtesy light, headlamp sensitivity etc.). Seller claims that...

    ECU programming TIS2Web advice

So I bought a SPS 24 month subscription and hooked up the programmer and attempted to flash my ECU. Unfortunately, I soft-bricked it :'( The ECU will no longer start the car, complaining about "Very Low Fuel", "Service Vehicle Soon" and "Fuel Gauge Error, Contact Dealer". It seems to still read...

    ECU programming TIS2Web advice

I've got a VCX Nano programmer coming in for my VZ today, following on from this thread. Excited! I'm wondering which subscription I need to get to flash the right VIN and updates to the car? I'm hoping to get the 24 month "Vehicle Programming Software" subscription but since I'm changing the...

Howto: Adjusting VZ accelerator pedal trim

The VZ has a drive-by-wire system that seems to lack the immediate responsiveness of a throttle cable system implemented in the EcoTecs and prior. Particularly, there seems to be about a 10mm pedal travel (or deadzone) before the ECU starts to increase revs, giving a delay in the engine kicking...

    Reprogramming a VZ

Anyone a vehicle programming whiz? I'm thinking about purchasing a programmer for my car so I can get the ECU/BCM/PIM options set correctly for my vehicle. I recently purchased a new ECU/BCM/PIM to replace the dead one to get my car roadworthy (passed 1st try, yay!) but there are still some...

    Vz won’t fire

I can't tell from your sentence due to its terrible grammar, so please clarify: Do you or do you not have spark from all 6 plugs? Do you or do you not have all 6 injectors firing?

Anyone with a tech2 able to reprogram a VZ ECU Plug and Play kit?

Just an update, installed the ECU/PIM/BCM kit, found out that the same injector didn't fire! Turns out in addition to the old ECU being dicky, the contacts on the plug going to the bad injector on the wiring harness were bent out of shape. I assume whoever tried to fix it broke the plug while...

what did you do to your car today?

Replaced the starter motor, broke a socket wrench adapter and needed to buy a set of car stands in the process.

Anyone with a tech2 able to reprogram a VZ ECU Plug and Play kit?

I don't think this car would have counted in any case as it was sold with no rego/rwc/warranty. The price, being under $1400 "drive away" (including the unregistered vehicle permit) seemed reasonable. We'll see what the final total is once I fix everything up!

Anyone with a tech2 able to reprogram a VZ ECU Plug and Play kit?

Hmm, interesting, under those new laws, 100% the dealer would have never taken in this car for trade-in and it would most likely be parted at a wreckers!

Anyone with a tech2 able to reprogram a VZ ECU Plug and Play kit?

I've got a VZ ECU/PIM/BCM kit on the way, after finding out too late that the VZ is notorious for cooked ECUs causing cylinder misfires! In this case, the ECU failed to fire the #3 injector! Turns out that the 2nd hand car dealer sold me a car claiming an ignition coil needing replacement when...

Plug and Play ECU, engine prefix different

I've got a VZ Wagon with a LE0 HBA engine with a dead ECU. I'm wondering if something like the link below will get it running and roadworthy? The only other available HBA security kits seems to be sedans, not wagons. My main concern is that the engine it came out of is a HBM and that the PIM +...
