    Mixture settings on a varajet

Thanks heaps for all your help guys, I actually talked to a carby guy that recos varajets and he told me a method to tune the thing. To do it properly you need a vacum gauge. I have already tried most of the method and it is heaps better than before. All I need is to get the vacum gauge and...

    Mixture settings on a varajet

Thanks Dayvo I know that you can get the varajet carbs idling incredibly smooth. I know because mine used to be like that. The problem is, is that then I had a mechanic guy who doesn't know much about these carbs play around with it when he shouldn't have. I shall explain: My varajet has a...

    Mixture settings on a varajet

Hi guys, I would just like some advice on setting the idle mixture setting on a varajet. Before you ask, it is because the carb has been overhauled and the mixture setting is out of wack. So, what is a good accurate way to do this and how do the pros usually do this. Also, does any know...

    VK carby float levels

Hi guys With the float level in varajet carbs in VKs, all my doumentation says that the float level should be 8mm. (Gregories and GMH) When you talk to any carby/fuel injection specialist, they all say that the float level should be around 6mm and their measurement goes down to about two...

    VK oil pressure light

Hi guys, I don't know if I have already asked this but I've forgotten if I have. My VK has an oil pressure gauge and I always thought that all models would have the oil pressure warning light. The lamp didn't come on when starting the engine so I checked for a blown globe. When removing...

    TX valve in VK AC

Hi guys, I have had to change the TX valve in my VK a few months ago due to a compressor failure (Everything has been flushed out properly) and it wasn't working very efficiently after. I checked the bulb position and found that the bulb was at the top of the pipe (Don't ask). I moved the...

    VK speedo

Hi Guys, Iv'e just finished school and I have just started my real job this week. I have noticed while traveling the distance to work that I tend to get tailgated really bad and overtaken heaps. I suspect my speedo to be incorrect, does anyone know a way to find out how accurate my speedo...

    vt Compressor

If your compressor has had a major failure and has contaminated the compressor oil then it wold be advisable to replace the TX valve, also called an expansion valve. If this is so, I would strongly suggest you pay to get your system thoroughly flushed out. This happened in my VK and the oil...

Harmonic balancer on a red 202

Thanks guys I have removed the balancer and changed the seal no worries. I can't get the harmonic balancer back on. I can get it about half way and then no more. I checked the internal diameter with the original and it is the same. I am using a piece of timber on the front and tapping it...

Harmonic balancer on a red 202

Hi guys I know this isn't to do with commodores... I am going to be replacing the harmonic balancer and the seal on a red 202 on my brothers HX. I was just wondering, when you put the new harmonic balancer on, do you tap it on with a hammer, does it stop when you put it on far enough on...

    Sanden TRS090 on a VB-VK

Thanks a lot mate. Don't worry about the other thing because I called Jayair and they said that new R134a compressors don't come with service ports and the thing on the back of the compressor is a pressure release switch. I have had to add service ports in the suction hose and the liquid...

    Something sqeeling

This is at very low speeds. Something like 5km/h. It is coming from the front. It doesn't sound like a slipping pwr steering belt, I had that a few months back and this a totally different sound. It sounds like disc brakes when someone is coming to a stop. That high pitched squeel only it...

    Sanden TRS090 on a VB-VK

Hi Guys, I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with the Sanden TRS090 scroll compressor. It is the R134a replacement compressor for a VB-VK commodore. If anyone is familiar with it I was just wondering if the round disk on the top of the compressor that the compressor clutch wire...

    Calais hazard flasher

I strongly suggest that you keep the alarm and all necessary wiring inside the cabin. A lot of people mount them behind the kick panels.

Who's pulled their steering column upper to bits?

If it is the key barrel you are trying to remove, there is a thin slot that you poke a flat bladed screwdriver through and remove the barrel. Sometimes the slot is covered in a thin layer of metal that you can break away. It should tell you that in a service manual.

    VK Cruise control

    More and more Varajet stuff.

Its all fixed. It turned out to be the vacum break thingy wasn't adjusted properly and it wasn't opening the choke far enough causing it to run too rich. Thanks anyway though

    More and more Varajet stuff.

I started it up this morning and got my father to have a look. He said that it was more white smoke than black smoke and that was from water in the exhaust or something. So, it isn't black smoke after all, (Maybe, I'll be finding out soon) however, it still runs like crap during that period of...

    More and more Varajet stuff.

All the basic maintenance has been done, plugs leads etc. and it was running fine except for the incorrectly adjusted carby. This has all happened after the carby has been tuned. I do use that flashlube stuff with petrol. The carby is the varajet 2 carby that was standard on the VK. It...

    More and more Varajet stuff.

Hi Guys, I have another varajet problem and I was wondering if any of you guys that are very familiar with these things would be able to answer. I had my carby tuned a few weeks back by one of those dedicated carby places. To start the car, you only have to push the accelerator to the floor...

k Check to see if the negative trigger wire is grounded when the doors are closed. If they are, then there's the problem. Use a multimeter for this. Check to see the ACC wire is only recieving 12v when the ignition is turned on and when the engine is cranking. If it is receving a constant...
