    Ongoing Issues with VFII SV6

Hi all, hope someone may have some insight or had a similar issue. Bought my VFII SV6 Auto Sedan brand new in March 2016. So far have done 18,000km. Since December 2016 I've had non stop ongoing issues with; Driving along fine from cold start, get to set of lights etc and upon trying to take...

    2005 SV6 Fuel Consumption

how many litres are you putting in when you say full tnak. the gauge/warning migth say "EMPTY" but you may only be able to squeeze 55 or so litres in (its a 75 litre tank) as the gauge is notoriously crap. mine is accuracte until about 1/3 remaining then it goes bonkers. so thats why it "seems"...

[VT-VX] VX front Brake pad Change How To Detailed

If you said the wheels lock up early thats nothing to do with the brakes, you need better tyres.

    VZ 5L40E how much???

The 4 speed really didnt like downshifts at WOT (eg, floor the pedal and it would kick down to 2nd) as the 2-4 band would wear out quite quickly (thats why a lot of of the 4spds have a harsh upshift and delay/flaring on downshift) also the 3/4 clutches would wear out often. BUT that being said...

    VZ SV6 2004 - Questions on 2 'issues'

Regarding the braking, most likely either your pads or rotors need replacing/machining (if the rotors are significantly worn they cant' be machined they will need to be replaced) OR also a possibility, but less likely, is that you have busted a radius rod bush or two and the wheel is being able...

Water pump failure after changing rad cap

my radiator cap failed resulting in overheating engine, i replaced it then couple of months later the water pump also failed, this is common as the cooling system (or any system, auto trans etc) is only as good as its weakest part.

    Monaro Pedals on a VZ

The accelerator on a VZ is completely different to previous models as it is an electronic one, ie. no cable, it has a sensor to tell the computer how far down you've pressed it, therefore you need the specific VZ one like here : GENUINE VZ HSV/HBD FLY BY WIRE ALLOY PEDAL SUIT V-6 (eBay item...

Minor Car Service - What do you expect

I know what you mean.... IMO, they should be checking for things like radiator hoses getting old/worn out, and certainly a quick test drive (transmission about to fail? bad need of wheel alignment?) that some car owners may not pick up on..... Some mechanics are certainly more thorough... for...

VZ V6 running hot for no apparent reason

Radiator caps are rated to a certain pressure which it will hold pressure too until it allows the coolant to expand into the expansion tank. If the radiator cap cant hold pressure (or you just simply take it off) the car will almost certainly overheat straight away as the system wont be able to...

    5th Gear problem

yes the paddles are a bit ordinary (lag much) but it does it in drive too when putting foot down a bit further when in 5th at light throttle with the torque converter locked up (the converter slipping or struggling to unlock maybe???) so its not just a characteristic of the dodgy A/S mode

    5th Gear problem

i have this same problem too - in active select in 5th the revs bounce up and down (almost like the converter is locking and unlocking the common problem in the old 4L60e's) and in drive, if im cruising in fifth and accelerate a little bit more (like to go up a hill) it does the same thing -...

    fuel consumption

Is it actually using that much fuel or is just the guage inaccurate, (measure it by filling to the top, doing 100kms or so, filling it up to the top again, calculate how much fuel it used to do that 100km and get a l/100km figure). I agree check the area around the fuel filter for leaks etc

    Alloytec tune and other issues

Remove the torque abuse control (so higher power will be available at slower speeds/rpm) ... this will feel like the car has more lower end power as previously it was limited so people didn't do burnouts etc Hopefully improve fuel economy and increase ouput.

    vz v6

No they CAN tune the engine, just can't change the gearbox (Shift patterns etc) like you can in the 4spds.

    Alloytec tune and other issues

VCM can certainly tune auto VZ V6's.... NO a dyno tune will not fix ANY issues or faults on an engine. (it is all about editing the stock fuel air ratios, ignition timing at different throttle openings etc) If anything it will make the engine work harder and stress more therefore making any...
