bought a 2nd hand rack from a VS and its the same, I did manage to pull out the broken end of pipe by threading a screw into it and using a slide hammer, it is just a press fit pipe so I will still look into whether i can get a new pipe made up to fit. Its something to remember to watch for...

yeah I though about sworf and was planning on stripping and cleaning out, also will tap it to take another pipe fitting at both ends and make a pipe, once out of car and apart will know more about what I'm dealing with, I was hoping someone would say where I can buy a replacement pipe to press...

My VR steering rack rear pipe broke while removing engine, The pipe that looks to be pressed in at both ends and runs from one end of rack to the other, can it be replaced. pipe circled in pic. Thanks for the help.

it is a problem when its a 90min round trip to the wreckers yard, will buy new next time as wreckers charge 1/2 price of a new one and give you a 20yr old part.

Ok mate managed to find a good working alternator, swapped it over and its charging 14.7v to the battery. So wreckers sold me something that doesn't work, for the price they charge they should have tested it before wasting my time. Good to know that everything else still works after battery...

Will do that today and a mate is also looking to see if he has a spare one I can try. wouldnt be the 1st time wreckers sold me rubbish.

Hi failed my wof due to air bag light (had seats out with batt still connected) is their a fuse i can remove to turn off dash light to pass wof while i sort out getting a scan tool.. cheers
