    VB-VK section quiet?

I think a big reason why 1st Gen's are not getting built is that they are not worth much. You could spend $20k on a 1st Gen and would be lucky to get $4k for it when you sell it. It's just throwing money away (granted, that's generally the same for all cars!) so if you are building one, it has...

    Rare Spares repro parts.....

The only new products Rare Spares seems to be releasing are "bolt kits" and things like that, not proper car reproduction parts. Bumper rubbers for steel bumper commodores are non-existent. The last things I bought there were windscreen wiper nozzles - I paid something like $52 for two tiny...

    Vh Commodore 255 tyres

NPreston - isn't the VL diff a tiny bit wider than the earlier ones? I have 15x8 Simmons as well, and I run 225x60R15s, but another bloke I know runs 235s on the same wheels and said "I should have put 245s on there." - he has a 9" in that VH.

whats a very clean regoed vc worth

I had a 2.8L VC for sale in immaculate condition, it was unreg though. Not one call at around the 4k mark. I decided to keep it instead of give it away for 2k. These cars are only 33 years old, the value of a car bottoms out at around 28~32 years old, then starts rising again after that. When...

    hidden fuel filler

Toranas had the fuel filler behind the flip down number plate, you might be able to get parts from a Torana and do the same thing; it is a long way to route the fuel filler line though. There have been threads on here before about fuel cells, etc, and I recall it was not legal to have the...

VSIII Utility 5L with 15x8 Simmons

Here is my Holden utility: It is a 2000 Olympic model with a stock 5 litre engine. I have put these wheels on it because I like the kind of muscle car look they give the car, rather than the 20s that people seem to go with these days. I searched for quite a while to get the 8 inch...

Will an Impco 425 fit under a VC bonnet, without modification, on a 5 litre?

I used to have a VC with a 425 Impco. The air filter sits down over the gas carby so they are not as high as you think. I did have a scoop, but in saying that the air filter was a large diameter and wouldn't have fit completely up in the (hornet) scoop anyway. I found a car on a forum from ages...

    [QLD] VN V8 K-frame

ITEM: VN V8 K frame. I purchased this from a wrecking yard. No longer going to use it. It came out of a VN SS which I inspected. Suitable for fitment into first-gen commodores to provide room around the steering rack for LS1 conversion. No other suspension parts come with the K-frame, just the...

    Vn tank in vc

The breather hose that goes from the top of the tank to the filler neck is a larger size in the VNs etc compared to the original VC. This hose lets air out of the tank when you fill it with petrol. I had a truckload of trouble putting the tank in because the hose has to go through a 'space'...

    my vc

You have a petrol filler on the left side of the car? Standard cars have filler on the right (driver's) side. I guess it has LPG in there as well and that is what the extra filler cap is for? Can I ask what size Simmons they are? What is the rim width and offset? I think the front end...

    Kempy's VH SL/E 355i

Yes I was told this years ago when I had a VC with cracked floor. Apparently it was a recall type thing and to this day you can drive a VB-VC-VH to the dealers and they have to repair it. Can anyone confirm this?

original mudflap to suit VK Commodore [VH]

1981 VC Commodore L Sedan - Torquay Sand, 6 Cyl.

Hi Commodore-lovers: Here is my Commodore VC. I have posted a pic before on this forum somewhere but here is a new Thread on the car. So at the moment it is almost completely stock standard. 2.85 litre 6 cylinder. 4 speed gearbox. banjo diff. The 15 inch commodore...

    Vh sle tone 2

I reckon the two-tones are one of the more popular ones. They are only worth what someone will pay at the moment. Personally I think the VB-VH cars are going to shoot up in value... but only when they are 38-40 years old. 11 years ago a 30 year old XY falcon could be had for $1500. Now they...

    VH Fuel Tank Removal

My biggest problem was the vent hose. It is bigger on the later cars than the early ones. No matter how I tried, I couldn't get the hose through the notch above the chassis rail. I ended up cutting the boot floor, making a 'hump' out of sheetmetal, welded that in, so it had room for the hose to...

Need help! With vh battery tray removal

I just did this; pulled the tray out. I managed to get the whole tray out and only had a couple of little holes in the metal underneath to weld up. I just painted it today after cleaning it up. Where are you going to run your battery cable? I was thinking of running it in the boot as far...

    VH Fuel Tank Removal

That's because there is a specific Holden tool to get the sender out, that no one uses because it is a once in 10 year event that you have to remove the sender, so why bother buying the tool! I put a VN tank in my VC. It was possibly the worst job on a car I have ever done. Drama from go to whoa.

What to do with my VH?

Posting on here about a classic Commodore is only going to get you low-ball offers from people trying to get a hot deal on a future collectable. Cars tend to bottom out in value around 25-30 years old, then slowly start increasing again... Keep it for another 5 or 10 years and it will be...

    Keep it or sell it?

Question: how did you renew those chrome strips? They are bonded on it seems. How did you get them off without wrecking the door cards? Did you get bumperbars re-chromed? Where did you buy 'new' bumperbars? Did you get new front bumper rubber as well? I reckon these cars will go like the...

    For SL/E Fanatics..

Yes there would only be a handful in Australia in that condition. They still don't command those prices though. I found an SL/X in similar condition (not quite as good and 120k on the clock, colour silver) for $6000 two years ago. I didn't buy it though. If you could get this one for 10 grand...

Lowered King Springs on a VH Commodore, who's used them?

PAge 04-25 of the GMH Service manual (for VB) has a diagram of the angles and the points at which they should be measured. It shows you three graphs of joint angles. The three graphs refer to three different types of Differentials (small salisbury L6 and V8, and large salisbury). It says to...

Wow, never seen GTS flutes in a Commodore before! Any more shots of the car? What gearbox are you going to use? Turbo 700 Auto or a Manual T5? What is all the "body mod control" stuff? Is that like climate control and ABS and all that you are talking about?

    VC Chrome Mould Restoration?

And other hard to get parts... On the issues of trim pieces for the VB-VC (and VH for that matter), I have found it is impossible to get decent "quarter trim vent" pieces. They all have the tabs broken off the back and Rare Spares doesn't make them (despite my emails!). These are the vents that...

    VC Chrome Mould Restoration?

I have thought about this issue for my VC too. I notice that the trim pieces have a coating on them; I assumed it was a clear coat of some sort, like the way they polish chrome wheels then clear them so you don't have to polish them all the time (like those damn simmons!). I was going to try...
