I haven't watched the entire video and can't remember the rocker brand name, but you may want to watch it....He busted 3 rockers on his motor and put a warning out on the brand in the video....So might be worth checking that you don't have the same and suffer the same fete

This is the video with the new rockers fitted...

I’m not an expert in o-rings but I thought brown o-rings were different to black o-rings (more than just the colour difference).

Brown are made of Vitron while black o-rings could be made of FFKM, NBR, EPDM, Viton, Alfas or Neoprene according to this page.

Each material obviously has different properties and thus what fluid it can safely carry and at what temperature it can works to… which all impact lifetime of the seal..

Vitron is trade name for a Flourine(?) grade material which is ethanol resistant asis EPDM and Alfas. (ethanol resistant that is)…

So how does one choose the correct o-ring material and size and know they’ve got the correct dimensions?

PS: love the progress…
i havnt noticed anything bad with any injector orings yet, the rail side sees the fuel so it more so has to suit the fuel type, but the injector tip side is just sealing against the manifold so its more a heat thing prob does see a little fuel from reversion but the black can be ethanol safe also, i usually like vitron when i can get it but they were another size up, https://raceworks.com.au/fuel/accessories/injector-o-rings/

ill prob check all those things out after a few months driving just to make sure all is working as it should and change if i have to, im not sure on all sized to suit injectors we just have a container that holds all the different ones so i just visually went the next size up

should be fine on mine as mine all have the split pin to secure it, and ill only have about half the spring pressure that they can handle compared to the blg block :)

Steve Morris has a video about why high HP blown engines break rockers and valve train parts.

yea seen that one good explanation on how it happens, i was always thinking it must take alot of effort to open that exhaust valve mid power stroke

@07GTS what is the blue lining in the head?
i got the heads painted in the black thermal dispersant to take the heat out of them, then the blue is teflon coating so the oil runs back to the sump quicker, the in/ext ports and chambers are coated in a thermal barrier so the exhaust dosnt heat up the head as much and the intake isnt affected by the heads heat as much and the chamber keeps the heat in the cylinder where it makes the power, alloy is a massive heat sink it draws heat out from anything around it, heat makes power if its within the cylinder so the more u can keep in there the better efficiency there is on the power stroke

Back to the start of the thread for you!

Dart Pro 1 heads cnc'd by Higgins, also i got https://www.racecoatings.com.au/ to thermal coated chambers/ports and valves with teflon blue coating for wear resistance and better oil flow, outside is thermal dispersant to remove heat, also done my exhaust and other bits

yea got the mellings 30% extra flow same a LSA but im keeping stock pressure and ive added piston squirters and bearing clearances are just slightly on the loose for the crank which is fine just fill it with oil and will keep it cooler under load, i also smoothed out all the passages in the sump to the filter so no sharp edges, inside of the sump is teflon coated as well
