hey guys.. dont flame me about it being ford or a yank tank...

but i been thinking of buying a 2003 or 2004 Explorer..

i know they have the nickname of "Exploder" but i have talked to a few mechanics that say the 03's and 4's dont share the same engine problems as the previous years..

anyway im just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with them?.. and if they are a good tank or not...

thanks guys

hmm i just got home from test driving a V6 Auto 2004 explorer....

im impressed... feels like its very well built... but the V6 is slow as horse ****... combined with an electronic throttle.. im trying to find a black V8 auto with low k's no doubt the V8 should make up for the electronic throttle

found a few but havent got time to go to QLD at the moment

any way

my sister in law had one, when something broke it was really expensive, pretty well everything has the come from the US. It had a small electrical problem which it had been to ford for 3 day for they couldnt find it, i ended up after 2 days finding an earth that wasnt quite right which solved the prob.
DONT BUY ONE. if you want something big and a V8 bu a landcruiser at least it will last.

cheers

I would not touch one of those with a 100 foot pole. A guy at work had one and it was nothing but a disaster from start to finish. They are a very very bad choice.

Sorta like the Territory. On paper they look good value, but on the road, and mechanically, you're better off investing in pig **** because that will be of some value to you sometime in the future
