253's aren't a good sounding V8 IMO. They always seem to sound far too "thong slappy" for my liking.

They're a bit like a V6 really, they can sound ok if they're kept relatively quiet but they sound terrible if they're loud.

I guess it all comes down to what you class as a nice note...

Muffler choice is what makes or breaks a decent sounding system.

Reversed Lukey mufflers? They sound the same either way, just the inlet and outlet will be in a different spot. I prefer chambered Lukey style mufflers on all carby V8's, they sound better.

What you need to do is get a couple of L0099 Lukey mufflers (or equivelant) and fit them in place of the mufflers that are already there and it will sound 100% better.

I can do a muffler similar to the Lukey for $42 each. Shipping would be $40, so two mufflers shipped would be $124.

Dad's HZ ute runs a twin 2" and holley carby. Makes me get boners.

But seriously a nice new, properly made system by a decent exhaust welder should be leaps and bounds ahead of the poor old system you are running now. If it has leaks the mufflers might have even collapsed inside aswell.

try 2 1/4" exhaust that a good size to have with a 253. Dont go any bigger than 2 1/2'. All, I've got is pacemakers extractors, straight threw muffler and dump at the back, its 2 1/4'' right threw. It's sound very similair to ari 1st video. walks

2 1/4" single, yes. But why change a perfectly good system when it's just the choice of muffler that will make or break it.
