Fuel Pump?
Try letting it prime a couple of times before you crank and see if that helps. Turn ignition on, then back to accessories and back on again, then crank.

I'd be looking at the Plugs & Leads also,
Vacuum leak, Fuel & Pump [as mentioned above]

Check for codes, as the not ALL faults will activate the MIL on the dash.

I had leaking injectors in my old SS which caused long cranking times after the car had been sitting a while as fuel had leaked into the cylinder effectively flooding it.

I keep mine on a trickle charge - your problem doesn't sound like a battery/spark issue though?

I agree with comments made above - something else is happening. Maybe the a coil failure?

If it is a coil - move it, I'll send photo's to make it easier to replace next time it happens

Can you hear any bubbling sounds from the fuel tank ?

Doesn't sound like a coil - they either work or they don't work in my experience.

However, I'm thinking of relocating the coil on my wife's VS Clubsport so would be interested in your pictures. Why don't you post them up.

I’m away with work but will post up some photos on the weekend.

Makes the job a heap easier to replace if required at any time in the future
