I also put a new MAP sensor on it yesterday & it has made no difference if anything it’s made it a bit worse cause it has a flat spot now, backfires & hesitates at about 1500 though to 2000 rpm when you give it a stab on the throttle. I checked timing & it’s on 12 degrees advance so no issues there. I even disconnected the IAC & started it in diagnostic mode to see if it would even out & it just sat at 1200rpm hunting & carrying on, it never evened out like apparently it’s supposed too.

Vr manual ecus are harder to find v6 and v8 are the same or if you can't find one for cheap get a vats turned off in your memcal and then use a vn or vp ecu it's the same minus 1 high speed communication chip that stops vats working

Yeah righto sweet, that’s not hard to do these days so VATS removed is the least of my problems. So VN or VP PCM’s are fairly easy to find then?
Thanks delcowizzid

How can you tell going off the label what series a PCM is out of? Think I’ve found one just want to be sure that’s all

This PCM is for sale & he reckons it’s for a series 1 VS V8 Manual

That’s an auto pcm and won’t accept the speed signal from the manual. That’s the one that’s same as vr v6 - worth approx $50. The memcal isn’t worth anything if it’s been tuned for an unknown camshaft and has no knock board.

Yeah righto I messaged the guy selling it & he reckons it’s a series 1 VS manual ecu (clearly he’s full of ****) & wants me to pay $200 dollars plus $45 freight to get it out of Sydney :(
Yeah I already gathered the Memcal would be bin material seen as there’s no info as to what it’s for.
Thanks for your help EYY I’ll keep looking around for one :)

Yeah I mean the 424 pcm would work, but would probably stall easily unless you screwed the throttle stop in a bit more to hold the butterfly open. But it's just not the right way to do it.

Better off getting the right one.
