Afm in 6 litre manual

Can anyone tell me if my 2013 vf ssv 6 liter v8 MANUAL has afm?? My mechanic I took it to said it was the reason why my lifters are making a tick noise

Only Auto L77's had AFM

Manual Models didn't

Manual Models Made 270KW where as the Auto's made 260KW

Same AFM lifters in manual, but no actual AFM function.

L76/L77's were all fitted with complete AFM setups, electronically disabled in manual vehicles.

I always assumed (probably wrongly) that the fact manual & auto L76 cars had the same power-output was related to them both having AFM enabled ... ?

My understanding is that AFM being active causes NVH issues which a torque converter can help iron out.

A clutch wouldn’t be able to iron out vibrations in the same way so it wouldn’t be nice to drive with AFM kicking in and out which is why it’s disabled in manuals.

Manuals were fitted with L98's.

VF1 was L77, manual or auto.
I think the OP has misunderstood his mechanic. He probably just said you have AFM lifters (which you do), And yes, they can become a bit noisy. Don't sack him yet.

but yes L98 has no AFM, the others (L76/L77) do have the hardware, just whether it is enabled or not (auto/manual)
