gday, ive had a ticking noise coming from the passenger side of my engine for a while now, and i noticed it after i did my cams, it may of been there before that but i doubt it, ive put a stethoscope up to it, and it seems that its the loudest at the exhaust manifold, you can really hear it over the rocker cover. this was a few months ago i checked this though and ill check it again, but just wondering what people reckon. it generally is always there, but sometimes on startup its not there, but usually it is. could be lifter tick? heard people talk about an evap solenoid, and someone said aswell the breather hose near the throttle body when its cracked it can cause problems, which mine is cracked a fair bit. but yeah anyway any help would be great, cheers.
by the way the video makes it seem louder then it actually is, its pretty quiet, but noticeable.

All breather hoses want to be soft and seal tight. Any cracks and hard hoses lead to problems.

As for the ticking. Replace the evap solenoid and get on with it.

Yeah I’ll have a look at replacing those hoses then, and where abouts is the evap solenoid, havent really found a proper answer on where it is

It’s on the left side of the motor. Push the connectors in, squeeze the tabs, and pull back.

Just realised it was drivers side that was making the noise, not sure what I was thinking last night ahaha, so when you say left side do you mean drivers side? And is it on the rocker cover or something around there?

The left side is the passenger side. It’s on the left.

Yeah okay, I’ll have a look into that tommorow then. Could that cause ticking on the drivers side or is it not related to it at all you reckon?

If you are hearing a loud tick on the right side, you’d want to hope it’s a noisy injector.

If it is coming from under the rocker cover, it’s going to be expensive.

Purge solenoid noise clearly comes from the purge solenoid on the left side.

Wait. What year is your VE?
