i have recently discovered that if you buy a belt the same diameter as the timing chain and swap it, when it stretches it won’t break like a chain and will therefore last much longer
Really? There's a reason why car manufacturers have moved away from timing belts and that's because they're in fact more prone to failure, and require replacing at certain intervals... I hope you haven't done this modification...

Wouldn't be possible anyway.

The cam phasers, gears etc are all teethed specifically for chains, you can't simply measure up a belt and pop it on.

I think he needs to lay off the glassbbq :p
