Just bought a VR so not sure of its history but when I drive passed parked cars (or something the sound will bounce off) I have a ticking noise.
Can anyone help please? Much appreciated.
I'm new to the car scene but just got a project.

Forgot to mention it's a 6.
4 New tyres but still checked for that.
No doubt the previous owners had a bit of fun before selling it. But I've only heard it while in the car...

some things to check that may cause a tick...loose spark plug, cracked or leaking exhaust manifold, noisy injector(try some injector cleaner), noisy lifter try some lifter free after an oil and filter change, damaged serpentine belt (remove and check, whilst belt is off check all pulleys for smooth rotation and run motor for a few seconds to see if noise go's away might be a noisy bearing

look and listen :) cracked manifolds is pretty common if they are stock..if it has extractors then it may just be a leaky gasket....use a bit of garden hose or a large screwdriver one end stuck near you ear and move around the engine bay till you find the general area of the noise
