I want my car to be respectable.

    my mate bought a XR6-T.
not that i'm giving ford anything that they don't deserve, but he really made an "alright" car absolute rubbish by putting a BOV on it. sounds stupid now. BOVs are, in my opinion, only for jap turbo cars like 200sx and skylines etc.

    Hahahahahha.. Genuine laughter..

Get a horn operated BOV.. It's basically just a sound wired to your horn.. Rev the car, get off the acclerator and press the horn.. PSSSSHHHHHTTTT...

    I wasn't joking above..

BTW, do you know what a BOV does? A stock car cannot generate enough boost between the snorkel and TB to make a PSSHHHTT..

come on seriously, why. if the cars actually got forced induction then yes be my guest but even the thought of putting one on a car when not needed just to hear a "pssssst" is wank factor in my thoughts.

i think it's wank factor too, though on the right car its good...saw a BMW in civic in canberra all painted nice, everything shiney, big intercooler in the bumper, i gave him the thumbs up so he flogged it and the blow off was a nice addition lol...i spose us isolated small town people need our perks...

im not sure but il take a rough stab at it... maybe a push type is when the compressed air "pushes" out of the BOV and pull is when suction of sum sort "pulls" air through it? (prob a ebay-style thing lol)

maybe its some sort of mix up with a pod filter...you know how some people say they are heaps loud and what not...i couldnt imagine a 'suck' bov being very good for the car, like there wouldnt be a filter on it.

Nah a push type releases the air and a pull type pulls the air in so its more presure in the air intake

the standard bov on the xr6t is fine for every application...no idea why you would go and change it..

i dont think alot of you guys actually know what the purpose of a BOV(really wrongly named but anyhoo), it is only wank wank when it is set to go off at very low boost/rpm etc. A BOV blowing off at 7500 rpm at full throttle shifting into the next gear sounds sweet.

LOL What? My thoughts mirror Shooters, it's like a bizarro BOV..

Where's it getting the power to gain the extra boost? A BOV doesn't generate more boost, it does the exact opposite..

ok from a turbo enthusiast there are benifits of having a bov. eliminated boost creep etc. and you cant have it venting to atmosphere "ptsshhhh" its illegal you must have it plumbbed back into the intake, my brother in law has had a few all with bovs, he got done for his 180 having one and that was it, it had 18 was way to low and had 3" straight through no cat no res, but they only got him for a bov. u really do need one but most stock ones are fine they do play a very important part in the boost control and pressurising of the intercooler pipes as do wastegates, to get the most out of a turbo u need them. but if your non turbo and u want one my thoughts are stop pulling so hard and spend your money on something worthwhile or go and buy a turboed car. its quite simple
