I have a question about the scraping of the green crap...

I am a little unclear as to what parts you have to scrape/remove from the panel. I have looked at mine and it looks like the green layer is under the white layer... the layer not to be removed.

No mate, the green layer is above the white one.
Just make sure u use a sharp knife (lol @ spyder for using a screw driver. . . . )
And TAKE your time. Otherwise you'll end up with real bright spots. . . .

Thanks for that... its confusing because there are only a few patches of green on mine.

You put it to a light and all is green but all i see mostly on the backing is white? Maybe mine is different?

Dunno, I imagine they'd be all the same. . .
Is there a small area u can do a test bit on?
Somewhere u can do it, but if u shag it, u wont c it?

I take it your doin your instrument cluster?
I just bought mine. Couldn't have been bothered doin that and the A/C controls.

Yeah, its the instrument cluster.

At certain parts it is just green with out any white layer at all. Those parts are further away from the light which would have me believe that it is to help disperse the light more evenly.

Maybe I should take it all off and re-paint with a white spray paint (of thinner quality)??? That could work couldn't it?

The main reason for taking the green off because of it darkening the blue too much
Then u get a really crappy dark look.

So if u just paint over the green, you'll probly make it worse.
If u got a bit of cash spare, just go to the link I posted earlier and save yourself some time and hassle. Not affiliated with the site in any way btw.
I just look for the easiest solution for me. That was it. . . . .

Just back reading thru the posts made on this issue... spyper didn't take off the green crap.

I have notices yours is an after market (a very nice one at that) so maybe thats why there wasnt the white over green?

Do you know what voltage the normal lights take behind the speedo/tacho?

I still had to do the A/C controls, they had the green on top of the white.
There is green in the speedo cause the globes behing the dash dont have any green condoms on em.

The globes r 12V, not sure wot it goes down to wen the dimmer is on though.

Any one know know how had this is to do on a VP?

Can't you just take the globes out of the back of the cluster? there's like 6 or something isn't there? then just but blue ones in?

Can someone also please make a list of what i should buy to do a complete conversion.

Thank you!

cheers, aZk.

I'm thinking that i will scrape the lot off and put down a new white layer of crap. I could use either a white spray paint or a contact adhesive like on my old school books only difference is I will buy a white colour.

Got the LED's today from DS Electronics... had to go to 3 stores to get the amount I wanted... some had 3 and the others had 4.

I am using 5mm blue LED's with a 560k resistor (for 12v compat). They are the super bright 8000mcd version.
