was there a cap on the bottom hose connector that you may not have removed?

Disconnect the bottom hose amd check for water flowing out the bottom of the radiator.

Was the radiator new or second-hand? Possibly blocked.

most bottom radiator hoses come with a coil of wire in them (looks like a spring) to stop them collapsing when the water pump sucks at high RPM. Obviously yours doesn't have this...
Maybe it fell out at the shop that you bought it off. Check with them.

You can test this by squeezing it with your hand - it should feel stiff.

take it back off and check where it's gone. I imagine that is your problem. That is the whole reason the spring is there!

Both of my radiator hoses were sucking in flat. Bought new ones, they did the same. Turned out to be the radiator cap. Bought a new one, all good now.
