Somebody told me that you can clean the inside of your motor by replacing your oil with some diesel and running it through for a bit before replacing the oil, is this true and is it a good or bad idea?

Seems like a terrible idea to me.... Maybe just to flush the engine, but not while its running.

If it was good for your engine everyone would be spending $6 on diesel rather the $50 on oil when doing a change.

I just cant see the diesel lubricating the engine enough not to mention the oil pump wondering what the fark is going on....

I say no, but someone else may say different....

I used to know a mechanic who flushed engines with kerosine

The old diesel trick, this is taken out of proportion, they say add a oil lid full, yes hardly anything to an engine 5000 kms before oil change

All adding diesel does is thin the oil. People on here will swear by it (although probably none of them have actually tried it) and there will be people who will say absolutely not. I'm with the nots. There is no real need to "flush" and engine except when changing from mineral oil to full synthetic. Then only use a good engine flush, not diesel or kero or Tibetan yak milk.

I'm drunk right now, and even so I can't understand how running diesel through your engine can possibly be a good idea. I second Blown V6 Hatch - best way to keep an engine clean is to replace the oil regularly.
