Update on this saga

Another dealer looked at the car and they are pushing Holden for engine replacement.

Diagnosis: excess piston to bore clearance....aka piston slap

Now let's wait and see.

Holden wants the dealer to strip the engine and check clearance etc.
Should i let them do it ?

Do you think the dealers workshop guys are capable of precise measurements?

I don't know....

I'd trust my local dealer's workshop guys for servicing, warranty work and maybe an engine replacement.
As for tearing an engine down, and checking piston to bore clearances, I'd prefer a dedicated engine overhaul shop to do that.

I feel the same...but I have limited options..
Let them do it..
Insist on new engine...
Do nothing...

If they've acknowledged the problem, tear it down and it comes back as bad or worse, and God forbid it needs re-doing, although it'll be a merry go round, you won't be paying for it a second, third or fourth time! Could it get any worse than it already is? I'd let them at it, in this situation.
