What brand of oil do the stealer use anyway? I notice they put a Mobil oil change reminder on my windscreen, some kind of Mobil 5w30?

On my recipet it just says something along the line of GM Dexos 5w30 oil...
It varies from dealer to dealer. Whichever approved oil they can get cheaper.

In my experience Dealers will use what they can get the best deal on. Mine uses Valvolene semi synthetic. I supply my own Penrite GF5.

This is what I do. I supplied my own Nulon 5w-30 last service. BUT, I made sure to have them specifically note on the receipt the brand, weight AND that it was Dexos 2 rated, and that the front of the bottle specifically mentions Holden/HSV approved.
Dexos 2 I though for our cars you must use Dexos 1

My dealer use AC Delco oil, blended locally by Fuchs.

Each 'stealer-ship' is different. The oil they use will depend on the contract they have with their supplier. Cheapest supplier usually wins.

Just a point of clarification. The oil you supplied is Dexos 1, which is the recommended Dexos oil for your car. If you look closely at bottom right hand side of the thing on the logo that looks like a two, you will see a white number 1.

To make it even more confusing, there's a 'Dexos 1', a 'Dexos 2', and a 'Dexos 1 Gen 2'.

Dexos 2 is designed for diesels, so even though it may be fine for your petrol engine (it'll certainly keep it damn clean) Dexo 1, or Dexos 1 Gen 2 is what's intended for your petrol engine by GM. Clear as mud?
