There's a moral to that story........................don't take a "good car" to the supermarket, take a s____heap.

But really some of the ridiculous prices on CS are truly to be laughed at. Here are just 3 and as such let the membership be the judge I guess.

I was told by an ex Gm employee that when they came down on the cars being built to meet homologation requirements for racing and selling them to Joe Public that GM had a bunch of the A9X L34 engines sitting around with nowhere to put them. Rather than a tribute car perhaps these 120 cars are where they finally put them.

~20 years later ?

No chance.

If my memory serves me correctly it was a tribute build to the 20 year anniversary of a win by an SL/R 5000 Torana.

Why? Stored correctly they would be fine. I'd love to see the engine number sequence of the 120 vehicles, that would show production time.

What I don't get is, why show photos that have seat covers and blankets on the seats, and a scrumpled-up mat on the floor. What is being hidden ?

Either the seats are fubared or it is actually exposing the fact that some people have no idea how to prepare and promote an item for sale.

I've seen pics of cars for sale for 6 figure sums where the seller has made no attempt at even cleaning the car (inside or out) and just expect it to sell coz of what it is.

I doubt it, there is no way a 70's spec engine would pass ADR/EPA in a 1990 era vehicle.

Plus the heads/cam/intake/exhaust would be wrong just to name a few.
At best, use block & rotating assy only.
Still very highly unlikely though.

Why use Carsales when you can get a bargain at Shannons Auctions. From their website...………..

"Strike me pink! Torana XU-1 sells for $183,000
How important is a standout colour and what value do you place on being a very early production example? The answer was ‘$183,000’ in the case of a 1972 LJ Torana GTR XU-1 with a period race history that had been stored for 24 years when it was offered with ’no reserve’ at Shannons Melbourne Autumn Classic Auction on April 29.
The result for the XU-1 was indicative of the high demand for Australian classics at the auction, which grossed $3.3 million in total sales, with 90 per cent of all lots sold on the hammer.
In other strong results for home-grown heroes, a beautifully-presented 1969 Holden HT Monaro uprated with a 383ci V8 engine and corresponding mechanical and cosmetic upgrades, sold for $107,000 and a true survivor – a two-tone 1960 Holden FB Holden special sedan in lovely condition – brought $26,000."
