Only if you buy the whole set of modules with keys.

Getting your ECM repaired is a really good option. Post it off. Get it mended. Put it back. Action.

What is wrong with it?

Did you watch the coil packs firing? Pull them out one by one and watch them sparking? Use an LED on the coil plug and wiring? It can be the coil pack, the plug and the wiring.

Misfire from the ECM is one that can definitely be mended by the repair guys. You should do that if you prove it is the ECM. Cost effective.

Also once when I put my injectors in, when I clipped one of them into the fuel rail I missed the slot and accidentally clipped it under the slot. It is really easy to do. It made it misfire. So if the misfire only appeared after changing the injectors, it is worth looking at that.

I use the CANDi module as a matter of course. I don't think the CANDi module is required on VY and earlier - I could be wrong though so don't take that as gospel.

No need for a laptop with a real or cloned Tech 2 an no need for the CANDi module if you use an aftermarket bi-directional scanner. Well none that I have come across anyways.

Just be aware that there are problems related to security if you opt for a Tech 2; even more so with a cloned Tech 2. You need a subscription to AC Delco to get authorisation to get around it you need a cracked version of TIS 2000. I think the MDI with an XP laptop using Teh2win is probably a better option - but I have not used it. Just chatted with others having success with that sort of setup.

I'm still working, in the background, on cracking the code to bypass the security authorisation for my cloned Tech 2. If you don't need to link modules or program key fobs the Tech 2 is a great tool.

If you need any more advice just shout. If you are anywhere near Murrumbateman you can drop in and I'll show you how it all goes together and what you can and can't do with one.

Cheers n Beers

I posted mine to a guy in Western Australia once. Kevin Stigant. EFI Auto Parts. He is really good. He fixes and posts back, no fuss or drama.

In my case, it did not even need fixing, and he was totally honest about it and helped me with some other stuff.

It was a long time ago.

He has Facebook still.

Used the same guy. Same deal. The ECM was not at fault and he resealed it in epoxy. Gave it a nice spray so it looked new.

I love how you moved your ECM to the base of the strut tower. Good job on that.
