I was wondering if anyone knew about engine restoration on a 2003 Commodore V6? The car itself is in fantastic condition but the engine just died. I'm wondering if it's worth selling off for parts or if someone knew about engine restoration?
Thank you in advance!

It depends if you want to keep that car or prefer to get a new one. An Ecotec would not cost a fortune to rebuild as it is quite a simple engine. Perhaps 2-3000 depending.
You can get your engine reconditioned or have a second hand engine installed for probably less money but not knowing how long it will last. Maybe 1 year or maybe 10.

Tha k you! So it would be cheaper, generally to have a second hand engine? How do you know if you're getting a quality second hand engine?

Cheaper yes. All you can do is buy it from a reputable seller and somehow verify their warranty if they offer one is genuine and will be honoured.

The fifth cylinder is not pumping so they said it'd probably cost the same to find and fix the problem than to get a new engine
