Look, you gotta track down where it is, whos it is, council, body corporate, retail, and then if it is the councils road, councils or road authorities have some responsibility, and need to have inplace maintenance procedures and inspection routine, they are now under Roads Management Act 2004 responsible also for defects in roads they didn't know about, but can be covered from criminal liability etc if they did have procedures in place to monitor and look for these things. But they still have a responsibility regardless, and compensation is not out of the question.
If its private or retail, its more a planning issue, did they highlight the bump if it is a splitter island or something, take pictures, document and record.
Look a year ago, when i put on my new shockers, i was driving the normal 50-60 and i was with my missus and i go hey look how they have asphalted the road, and then all of a sudden bang ! F'in put in new raised asphalt road humps and hadn't line marked em or put on the white tabs to highlight them when just installed. They put 3 around the area, i wasnt familiar as we were visiting someone. You could not see the road humps, just looked like all asphalt and flat on the road. I took pix just in case my shockers were f'ed and and if i had issues the installer wouldnt fix etc. Nothing has happened to this day.
