ESP contact dealer code after heads and cam install

I just fitted a cam lifters heads under driven pulley and went to fire it up
And ...... X contact dealer
...... ESP warning. Stability control
Engine will not click over at all I turn the key and nothing at all
Any thoughts ????

There was a similar thread on here ages ago. Can't remember the answer but ESP is linked to the engine via the ECU because when you lose traction the 'çomputer'cuts the engine to reduce power. So i guess your engine mods have the computer in a panic because some parameters are now outside normal values

Ecu hasn't been tuned
But it should still start up ?

no. the second the engine senses that there is something wrong. IE putting different cams in. it will compleaty **** itself and go into a state of self preservation.. IE. im not turning on to save your life. you need to tune it to take into account the new cams. right now its thinking that the old cams are in it. if you did start it. it would run like crap and ether pump in the wrong fuel to air and maybe damage the engine.

it will startup... just prob run rough... possibley stall etc.... all depends on the amount of mods... but none of this self preservation garbage

sounds like ecu isn't waking up etc.... as it is the part that controls the crank relay... do the injectors and coils have 12v igniton.. this will show if ecu is powered.... if it isxnt then the abs will fault as it cant see the ecu and you get the no crank situation

Mine ran after cam install no worries.
It's not ideal but given mine had to be moved about 50 metres next door for the tune it didn't matter but point being, it should still start and run.

Yep agree. Check ecu plugged in properly. Earths bolted down properly. Battery terminals and the other fusible nuts are tight.

Stupid
Now it spins the starter motor and pulleys but doesn't fire
Any thoughts ?
