Except for the CO2 they emit.

The CO2 people emit aren’t a part of global warming as it’s notionally a closed loop system. What we breathe out is absorbed by plants, that we end up eating (directly or indirectly) so it doesn’t count towards increasing global warming.

Dont worry about the ground water or other toxins realeased in the process.
They can allways get some more child labor. The land thats mined is now f*cked forever.
Is that what sort of people we are?

You commented that minor miners are zero emissions.

I commented that they aren't.

That plants are apparently so clever that they can select which co2 they absorb (learn something new every day) has no relevance to the claim of humans being zero emission.

I suppose yes, strictly speaking we aren’t zero emissions but for the purposes of global warming our emissions aren’t counted as it’s basically a closed loop system.

Same as burning wood in a wood fire isn’t considered for CO2 emissions purposes either, as it’s a closed loop system, the wood you burn is hypothetically replaced with new trees and doesn’t add to the amount of long term CO2 in the atmosphere.

All the shite we are digging out of the ground on the other hand (that has been sequestered for millions of years) does add to long term CO2 levels as that CO2 hasn’t been in the atmosphere for millions of years.

Sooo about them EVs...

Had to check the thread title, thought I clicked on the passed off thread

Shouldn't EVs be taxed more as they are heavier than normal ICE vehicles, this would allow states to have enough cash to fix the roads..

Apparently that would be "sneaky"!

At least we got that part right in NZ. All EV's and hybrids been taxed from 1st April 2024 (and no, that's no April fools joke).

What if you don't eat plants.

The answer is easy , replace all the roads with Under Road Wireless Charging . ;)

Will we build the coils here, maybe we could have a wireless charging factory next to the solar panel factory.
We could even put a camping ground on site, because the workers won't have a home to live in.
