Going rate for timing chains to be done by a mechanic is about 3k, and that's if you can find a mechanic who wants the job. That's probably worth considering if it still has the original chains.

I thought the elongation of timing chains was corrected in 07, replacing the 9.5mm roller pitch design to 7.7mm inverted tooth. It’s got me stumped how the issues still followed after the correction. Maybe someone could share some insight? my 06 vz is still using the roller pitch chains and it’s been smooth since the day I bought it.

From what I've heard timing chain issues outside of the bad batch are closely linked to lack of oil changes> poor lubricatiob of the chains.
My car supposedly has the bad chains in it going by the engine number data on here but has not had an issue, yet, at over 250000 ks.
I thinks it's got something o do with the fact I service it properly :)
