I wouldn't rule out a Rockford sub mate. I wasn't that impressed with Focals subs to be honest.

Yeah, I kind of like to go the one brand but that's just a personal thing, plus I listened to the Focal and was happy with it but I haven't listened to the Rockford. I also don't have an opportunity to audition the Rockford as I am in WA at work and the car is booked in to get done the week before i get back home to NSW for R&R, so it will be done for me to enjoy on my week off! I did look into the Rockford set up from Walkinshaw, but after several emails and phone calls all they could give me was a price no details, and didn't really seem to keen to sell me one!!!!!

It all depends on what music you like at the end of the day. Some speakers can be good for rock but useless for dub.
Listen to as many as you can then go with what you think suits your musical tastes. Bring your own CD to the store and crack it.

I took me an hour of listening to different speakers and amp combinations before I handed over the folding stuff. My set up cost 2K yours is more so be picky and make sure you love it.

No offense but you probably should have read the whole post! It pretty much explains that. I am very picky, its taken me 37 years to work out what sort of music I'm into LOL

Well I have read a really good article Mobile Electronics AU | Articles | Alpine PXA-H800 vs Audison BitOne Processors Compared
And now I am set on the bit one, I haven't upgraded a car stereo for along time and didn't realise that this stuff was available for the car, but I should have known better!!!!
Anyway talked to the audio place and they are getting back to me on the price, I have also upgraded the sub to a Focal 11" 27KX
So Know the system will be:
Focal 165KR Splits up front
Focal 165KRC coax in back
Focal 11" 27KX sub in Focal ported box,
Focal FPP 5300 5 channel amp
Audison Bit one
Focal sound deadening mat

Price...........my guess is it will be around $4500 I will blame HSV is King for that at the moment, but probably thank him later!!!!!

If you are considering thge bitone one probably would not get the rear speakers installed and save the dollars,i did get the rear speakers before i got the bitone but one it was installed they were not used as there is a lot of settings to tune the whole system, something called stageing. some info here where i got mine doneFhrx Studios Pty Ltd - Audio / Visual Specialists

Also if you are looking to spend abut 5k on the whole system check to see if the things such as cable, connectors fuses, tuning etc are included.

see if you could bring a cd with youand listen to the setup with your own music

Definitely going the Bitone.1, and I will be getting the rear speakers. I understand a bit about staging, and the whole reason that I decided on getting it apart from getting a great sound, was the way it works. The tune and all installation is included, including custom box for the 11” Focal 27KX, all up the revised price I got was $4900.00, but I have knocked it down to $4700.00, I will put the break down later.
I’m a bit of a music nut having played in bands, duo’s and solo, and I do a little mixing of PA’s and a little recording, I have a home studio and lots of toys in it!!!! The best thing about the Bitone.1 is that because it is digital based, ie it converts the line out to digital then processes it, is that the tune is saved on your lap top, and I can plug the lap top in and save the tune that the audio place does, but I can also have a go at my own tune, and save that, plus I will tune it to several different “stages” so the centre of the stage will be in the centre of the car when you have passengers, and right bang over the driver seat when alone. You can store several tune in the divice itself and switch to the one you want depending on how many passengers you have.

Why are you getting the BitOne over the BitTen? If you just have front, rear and subs you only need the 5 channels the BitTen provides, not the 8 channels of the BitOne.

Room for expansion!!!! Overkill perhaps, but i have a habit of getting the top of the range on some things :) I get what your saying, no doubt about that, but its like a mixing desk in a PA, why get 16 channels when you only need 12 to do a four peice pub band, the answer for me is why not, if you have the money, the 16 channel is no bigger size wise, so have some extra channels up your sleeve...Plus as far as i know the Bit ten doesn't have the dash mount controller....but I may be wrong.
And its like anything in cars really, why buy a V8 when the V6 is sufficient :)

Yeah, the dash mount controller is an optional extra. It still comes in well under the BitOne price though.

So you think you might go fully active in future? Or have 3 way full active front stage? If you have the money to spare on the BitOne, you might as well do it from the start
